LH hitters batting .204 against him (22 for 108), with a .543 OPS against, and 31 k's.
Have to feel good for Patton to get back to this point. Getting to the Majors in 2007 at a very young age (he turns 27 September 3rd), and going through the Labrum injury.

Not good news considering how good he's been recently. Hoping for a fast recovery from him!MASN's Kubatko reports Patton to the DL, after rolling his ankle.

Left-hander Troy Patton did some pool running today and could throw for the first time Thursday as he makes a slow recovery from a sprained right ankle. The Orioles won't have a timetable for his possible return until seeing how he progresses this week.

Good read from Jeff here. Where do you agree / disagree?

As for a prediction, I think Patton will pitch somewhere between 30 and 70 innings with an ERA between about 1.75 and 5.50.
Relievers, particularly long relief and lefty specialists, are just too hard to predict from year-to-year. I think there is certainly reason to be optimistic about Patton, but he's not exactly an elite reliever, and only the best of the best of relievers should be relied upon to be very effective in any given year. I think there is pretty much equal expectancy that he finish anywhere from the best reliever to about the 11th best reliever on the team.

In my mind, Patton's development makes the loss of David Hernandez more palatable (though still painful. That was the only move by AM that I really hated).

Not sure I completely agree with your overall assessment of his talent, but I love the basis of your projection. Good stuff.

Nice work Jeff.

Thanks, I feel like I'm kind of out on a limb with it, but there's a lot of things about Patton that I really like.
