I'm guessing it's not every day that Cigar Aficionado gets to drop a big quote from an owner of a major pro sports team. What stood out to me is that he apparently smokes six cigars a day. Might wanna take it easy there, Mike.

Woah... better not air anymore "If I could be like Mike" commercials.

Not much discussion here yet. Is anyone looking forward to the start of the season tomorrow? Or does the likely prospect of Golden State steamrolling the entire league remove too much of the intrigue to have interest?

I'm very excited for the season despite the Golden State issue.

I'm working on a season preview article for the site that I'll hopefully post today, which will adress that among other things.

The lack of mystery surrounding who will win the title does diminish my interest, but there are other good storylines that I want to see play out. So I'll still watch. I really hope the playoffs are more competitive overall than last season though, that wasn't really good for the league in several ways.

8. How long until Lonzo Ball becomes the best PG in the NBA?

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Good article. Can’t wait for the season. I think OKC is prolly better than Houston if Melo knows his role. No qualms about anything you wrote.

I’ve seen Star Wars at least a hundred times.

I know how it ends.

I still watch it because it’s awesome.

I wouldn't be shocked if this happens, and the window is opening in the next few years as Kevin O'Connor wrote recently when suggesting that Kyrie could become the best PG in the league relatively soon.

Thanks.

OKC can definitely be the second best team in the West, and maybe even the league, but I'm still a little hesitant on how they are going to mesh. That's not just a Melo issue either, I'm concerned with Russ some too.

I'm actually interested in seeing which among the 7 good teams in the West will claim the 5-8 playoff seeds. I just hope they all decide it's worth it to try rather than tanking.

The guy is slow and can't shoot. You can't just be a great passer and get the greatest PG label.

Magic was slow and couldn't shoot. ;)

But Lonzo can shoot and he's not that slow.

Magic was also 6' 9" and could easily post-up guards, even forwards, in an era where the game was played differently.  ;)

Yeah, my comment was mostly in jest.

Lonzo is a big PG, though (obviously not nearly as big as Magic).
