No chance he is DFA’d I wouldn’t think. Only trade him if a team is willing to give you the value he had going into this season.
You trust them a lot more than I do.

Will it be in Baltimore or somewhere else? He's really expensive.
HIs expected salary in 2022 is less than $4M so hardly expensive.....but then we are talking about the O's here....lol

23 BB is his career high. His current BB% is 3.5X his career rate coming into this season.

I am not sure that is totally a good thing. I am afraid this pitch selection thing we keep hearing about is making the hitters to conservative,

It's a game of adjustments. Right now, the book is probably that he will chase pitches, so pitch him out of the zone. Then they will realize he's laying off them and they will come back into the zone and challenge him (at .241 they aren't going to be too scared to do it). If he starts hitting those and raises his average they will start nibbling at the corners, and then it's up to him to be able to lay off the balls that are close vs the ones that are in.
I'd say it's possible he's in that 3rd stage already, but his average would be higher if he were hitting the ball in the zone, and if he's not hitting the ball in the zone they'd be attacking him with that, which is why I'm near certain he's in the first wave.
You'll see something change soon as the back and forth adjustment stage starts. Usually takes a while til they consider something a trend vs an early season fluke, but we should start seeing adjustments across the map soon. (this is what the pro scouting departments that got cut back on a few years ago do)

This has been my observation with Santander. Hes too passive at the plate now. Its reflected in his poor ISO and Slug.

The willingness to change his approach is important, if its real. Even if he overshot a little because being selective is not really natural to him, that can be adjusted back down once he gets more comfortable. Once he can find an ideal medium between the two extremes that's probably the best case.

He's the guy you send to bench make room for a Stowers or Neustrom.
Early walks look to have fizzled out. 3 walks in 14 games in May.

Since you have him under control... and thinking past '22... seems like he could replace Mancini at DH, with Stowers stepping into RF.

Its known Ive never been a big fan so not surprising Ill say that I dont want him as a DH. I just think he's a 2nd tier every day player and Im looking to upgrade. Trey can swing the stick and I dont think thats changing for awhile. If we can get him on a 2 or 3 yr deal lets do it

Just because this year is crazy and I enjoy seeing it expressed statistically.
Trey:
2021 758 OPS 105 OPS+
2022 745 OPS 121 OPS+
He also had a 120 OPS+ in 2017. That was an 826 OPS.
