Optioned
Let's keep optioning the guys like Lowther and Wells but make sure we keep Eshelman and others on the roster.

Tried to watch the Norfolk game tonight and Lowther got crushed.
5 runs in one third of an inning, including 2 home runs.

He’s been trash since the second inning of his debut.

He's been up and down. Inconsistent routine. Inconsistent performance.
Keep him in AAA for his next 4 starts, and see if he starts to put things together.

Agreed, the absolute refusal to staff the rotation, with at least 1 or 2 real starters besides Means has hurt some of the young guys.

Pitching here on a rehab assignment, lefty Zac Lowther threw four innings last night, allowing five hits and two unearned runs with one walk and four strikeouts on 74 pitches. On the injured list strained left shoulder, he had already pitched once in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League and once for Aberdeen on the comeback trail.
“The stuff from 2019, I think was there, it’s just getting the consistency of commanding it a little better,” Britton said of Lowther’s outing. “But he came out of the game healthy and he did a nice job. There were some opportunities there where they put some traffic on the bases and he pitched around it. So that was good to see.”
Lowther is expected to return now to Triple-A Norfolk.

I think Lowther could develop into a reliable 4th or 5th starter. He can hit 92-93 on the gun and has good breaking stuff. I always feel like he is nervous when he is in the mound. I think with more innings we may see Lowther develop.

It looks like Lowther will get the last game of the year.

I have said before that I think there is more to Lowther than we have seen. I think he has a chance to secure a spot in the rotation.

It is a shame too, because he could easily be in the spot Chris Ellis is occupying.
