Houston fires Lovie Smith.  2nd straight year they've fired their coach after 1 season.

Probably for going for 2 and costing them the #1 overall pick.

Good coach. I'm sure Ryans will find a nice landing spot when the Texans fire him after the season.

Yeah he may be their next longterm HC but that organization is a complete dumpster fire so who knows.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Houston takes Stroud. I seem to like him more than most. Don't think he will be elite, do thin he can be a good starter.

Trades with AZ, and selects 3rd overall... takes Will Anderson.

NFL Network: Plot twist: The Bengals are now trading Joe Mixon to the Texans rather than releasing him, sources say.
So Zack Moss signs in Cincy, and Mixon is traded to Houston, from Joe Burrow to CJ Stroud.
The Texans have been in the RB market but have patiently waited. Now, they land Mixon in a surprise trade.

The haul (if that's the word) is far less than both Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill fetched when they were both dealt by Green Bay and Kansas City, respectively. But it could also be symbolic of Diggs' penchant for wearing out his welcome; friction seems to follow him wherever he goes. I'm sure the Bengals also took careful notice of this trade as well. If all Diggs can bring back is a second-rounder, they have little incentive to trade Tee Higgins right now.

For Houston, it's a classic short-term move by a team afforded the luxury of not having to pay their quarterback for the next several seasons. That kind of financial leeway can't be ignored.

I think with Diggs it was a combination of his salary and him being a regular malcontent in terms of only fetching a second round pick.  He's the new Terrell Owens, although not quite as good.

I said when KC beat Buffalo that it was Diggs last game in Buffalo.  A lot of people thought that would not be true because of his contract.  That wasn't a wrong thought.  But Diggs played terribly the last part of the season and despite that Buffalo went on a tear to go from out of the playoffs to winning their division and getting the #2 seed.  Diggs came up virtually empty in the KC playoff game with 3 catches for 21 yards.  He just seemed disinterested.

I think the low return is probably because he is generally viewed as a locker room cancer.  Buffalo just wanted to dump him and his contract and move on for what they could get.
