I like Mike & Mike, but I also never really am bothered at all when one or both of them is on vacation and there is a replacement in studio for them.  I think they at times get a bit too wrapped up in the pseudo-character personas that they have taken on, but most of the time it's good quality sports talk.  I imagine I'll continue to watch/listen as often as I do now, which isn't all that often.  I watch for like 10-20 min in the morning when I'm getting ready to leave for work, but if I happen to be off with nothing to do or working from home, then I'll watch up to the entire show.  Can't seem to find the show on the radio dial, and I'd listen to local sports or music more often anyways.

I found Mike and Mike, as with most ESPN radio personalities, borderline unlistenable. For one, way too many commercials which killed any flow or momentum they had with a conversation. Also hated the way they teased stuff to make you suffer through a five minute commercial break every 12 minutes. But that's any national radio station. Secondly, they only spoke about national sports stories, and I am more of a localized sports fan. Secondly, their schtick was thick and boring. Felt like they were playing characters and not being themselves which is what I want from radio personalities. They won't be missed in my little part of the world.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Never listened to them other than a couple times catching them on TV.

I too am a local sports guy and follow the sport specific networks for the out of town stuff.

I feel like on the local level you get guys that really know about the local teams, then they have guests on to talk about goings on elsewhere. On the sport specific networks the guys really know about the handful of teams and players in their universe they cover daily. On the national level, there is just not enough hours in the day to be that knowledgeable on all things across all sports. It became pretty evident when the Orioles started getting good again that the talking heads nationally trying to talk about the now relevant and newsworthy Orioles hadn't much of a clue. But it's their job to formulate opinions and talking points. It's hard to formulate an opinion on something you don't watch though.

I can't imagine these guys with national shows that have to do a 3 hour show, travel, write a column, call a half dozen radio shows, attend to a family, also find time to watch enough sports to be able to speak as intelligently as they claim about everything.

I'm a big fan of the show. Like everything on ESPN, they are too wrapped up in the NFL but I feel they put on an entertaining show and give good interviews. I respect that Golic has tried to get better in all the sports too.

I also like they they aren't afraid to tell it like it is, especially Golic.

They do a pretty good job of covering everything that is relevant in today's sports landscape.

I agree with Milton though...this is a mistake by ESPN. Why break up something that is good?

It's pretty obvious that ESPN is going full liberal media but I'm not sure that this had anything to do with that.

This was/is all about them having supreme confidence in Greenberg. He's a very smart guy who allows his own team allegiances to get in the way of more important topics at time but overall, he is pretty good.

Haven't seen enough of Wingo but this has NFL written all over it, since he is their main NFL guy now.

Well, it's no secret that Greenberg wanted to leave the show. Not surprised there are ill feelings from Golic.

The quote about them being good actors is apt though.

Sad ending considering the history between them.

Maybe ego. At-least new challenges or routine I guess. He was the one pushing their move to New York which didnt wind-up happening.

Ive enjoyed the show but never loved it.

That said it was a huge forum, and I think by reach has greatly impacted the daily narrative and coverage found elsewhere.

Daily they shaped the story.

Yea, they would routinely get the ball rolling on topics and stories throughout the day.

I actually prefer Golic to Greeny myself but feel they are good together.

Shame they are going out on bad terms.
