Yacabonis with the win today.  Stuff looked great.

No belief in his ability to be a consistent starter... but definitely think he can help a roster. How he was utilized today (followed Karns, who was the opener) is how he should be used.

3 innings, 3 hits, 1 er, 2 bb's, 2 k's

Optioned to AAA.

2IP, 4 hits, 3 HR, 4 earned runs will do that to you. He has the ability to have a really good outing. The problem is he also has the ability to have absolute disaster outings.

So far that's been everyone in the BP minus Wright and Castro.

Yac's outing the other day was a snapshot of the whole staff so far.  He actually looked liked he had good stuff at the start, then gave up the first blast, got pissed, totally ignored the catcher, looking for locations, and tried to blow the ball by the hitters and paid for it by allowing two long home runs including one to Jason Castro, who is not known for his power.

His reward, a trip to the beach....Enjoy JImmy.

Walking to work this morning in Philly, I had a guy stopped at a light yell to me when he saw my Orioles hat.

"You an O's fan?"

"Yeah."

"You know Jimmy Yacabonis?"

"Yeah!"

"He's a good dude!"

*drives away*

Not really meaningful to this, but just thought it was amusing. Looking him up, I didn't realize he went to St. Joe's.

Back up...

MASN: Yacabonis has allowed two runs and three hits in 5 2/3 innings with Norfolk, walking three batters and striking out four. He worked two innings on Thursday and is available today.

Lol...he’s so bad. Be nice if he could do something as a 1 inning reliever but not sure he can do it.

Was terrible again as the "opener" the other day. I'm tired of these AAAA pitchers.

Terrible again today.

Can't get out major league hitters.

Did rebound after the homer... for the day... 3.1 ip, 3 hits, 1 er, 1 bb, 2 k's, 1 hr.

He's got the next 2 months to show if he can compete at this level or not.

I don’t know this means.

No matter what he does to end the year, he shouldn’t have any guarantees for any spot in the organization, much less the ML roster.

If you mean he has 2 months to convince the team to not release him and see what he has in ST, I think that’s fair to say.

Anything more than that is a bit much.

He's a very replaceable guy, and there is plenty of competition for spots on the way.

He has two months to show he can get ML hitters out and be in position to compete for a spot on the ML roster next spring.

He does have some arm talent. Not just velocity but movement and deception.

But the results haven't been good enough, and he is in danger of just being passed by.

If he is capable of making adjustments, need to see them now. He has the arm talent to be an opener or follow an opener...and youd like him to be a guy that could give your more innings vs typical relievers..but he has to perform.

Yea I agree with that.

Ideally he’s a 65-80 IP reliever that gives you a sub 4 ERA.

Someone to eat innings and keep you in games.

That has value when it costs you nothing.

Bad again tonight.

This guy is not MLB talent.

Last 11 appearances, he's allowed runs in 7 of them. That's not much relief.

47 pitches to get 3 outs, while allowing 4 runs on 4 hits with 2 walks! Brutal.

Last 11

IP: 15
ER: 19
R: 20
H: 26
BB: 10
K: 17
HR: 5
ERA: 11.40

Season ERA: 7.34

O’s Twitter seems upset by this. I think he probably makes it through waivers but if not, *shrug*.
