Keep him in the rotation for now. Akin has shown nothing to continue getting starts.

Yep, certainly earned another outing. Nobody will be expecting extended success from him and Watkins, but keep handing them the ball for now.

I agree that Wells should stay up and get starts for a while.

I think that was Tyler Wells, although I get them mixed up. I was expecting the photography Wells to speak with an Australian accent.

Called up again, I’m sure briefly.
The Orioles are desperately searching for guys that can pitch. They keep giving chances and no one is answering. Maybe A. Wells

Optioning Wells with a 28 man Opening Day roster is very surprising to me.
This is not some guy that needs further development. He is what he is. He can help a roster, he's not going to last as a ML starter.
Why wouldn't he be on the ML roster at this point?

I really thought he would be the 5th starter to begin the year.

Sending him down early enough so that they can call him back up a few days into the season?

It is possible he still is. They do not need a 5th starter until the 12th, so maybe they carry an extra bat or reliever then call him up for the 12th.
