#Orioles RHP Ofelky Peralta lit up radar guns and opened eyes today. Mechanics are less rushed and he's able to throw downhill and establish his FB more than last season. Fastball 94-97 and threw it often; flashed high-70s CB and developing CH.

(#39) Ofelky Peralta, RHP

Ceiling: 40        Risk: Extreme        ETA: 2021        Role Description: Middle Relief
Ht/Wt: 6’5” / 195 lbs.          B/T: R/R         Highest Level: A+          Age (as of April 1, 2019): 21y, 11m
Video | Spotlight

Peralta was one of the only significant Latin American signings the O’s have made in recent years, agreeing to a $350K bonus in 2013. His raw stuff has always been among the most interesting in the system, though Peralta has been slowed by injuries with consistently horrible control numbers throughout his career. Peralta’s fastball touches the high-90s and sits comfortably at 94-to-95 mph. His curveball flashes depth but is inconsistent due to a lengthy arm action. This is a lottery ticket more than a safe-bet big league prospect, but Peralta’s 6-foot-5 frame and velocity merit a mention on this list. He’s still young and could see his stuff play up with a move to the ‘pen.

Taking a step down from last year but still early numbers are good.

7 more strikeouts through 3 innings tonight. Had a streak of 17 consecutive recorded outs via strikeout dating back to his last start broken up by a fielders choice in the 3rd.

Might be time to move back up to Frederick.

That’s awesome. I watched some videos of him on YT earlier today after reading this thread and it looks like he throws hard and has no idea where it’s going. Another Daniel Cabrera but those videos were one and two years old. Hope he can figure it out. I’d like to see him in Frederick soon.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Either just starting hot or he has a better idea what to do with it.

6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 11 K tonight.

He’s a little old for that league. Just get him out of there.

If he is just able to overpower everyone, what is he learning?
