The MLL will wrap up its season this weekend in Charleston, SC with the final game between
the Dallas Rattlers and the Denver Outlaws. The weekend festivities will kick off tonight with the
2018 MLL honors at 6:30 PM. The ceremony will highlight some of the most outstanding
performers from this year’s MLL season with the following awards:

 

Most Valuable Player Nominees:
Rob Pannell - NY - A
Kevin Rice - ATL - A
Jordan Wolf - DAL - A

 

Rookie of the Year Nominees:
Trevor Baptiste - BOS - FO
Chris Cloutier - DEN - A/M
Christian Cuccinello - ATL - M

But the more noteworthy story of the weekend is who will take home the trophy as the MLL
champion this Saturday night from Charleston, SC. The game features the first place Rattlers,
fresh off a move from Rochester to Dallas, and the third place Denver Outlaws, who have
appeared in the championship game in eight out of the last thirteen years.

 

The Rattlers are led on all sides of the ball by plenty of talent, including MVP and Offensive
Player of the Year candidate Jordan Wolf, DPOTY candidate Matt Dunn and GOTY candndate
John Galloway. The Rattlers have not been a team to reckon with this season, only coming out
on the losing side three times. But although the Rattlers have not shown many flaws this
season, the matchup with the Outlaws proves to be an interesting one.

 

The two teams have matched up twice, and have played two thrillers of games this season.
Dallas won both games by one goal each time, and the first game went into overtime.
Therefore, this weekend in Charleston, nobody really knows who is going to come away with the
victory this weekend. But I am going to say that it will be another close one. The Rattlers will
walk away with the trophy by a score of 15-14.

 Life long lax fan who also played up through highschool.  Love the game and will watch as much college action as I can, but I had never been to a professional game before Saturday when I went to my first Bayhawks game.  It wasn't a new interest that got me there,  it was military appreciation night and my brother in law  (who's in the Marines) got to go on the field pregame and be introduced as the hometown hero.  He had some tickets for the game so I was able to go see him and then watch the game as well. 

 

As far as the game went it was okay. Bayhawks lost 12-11 in OT.  Something I didn't like was that they had music playing through out most of the action.  I didn't like it at all and felt that it distracted from the game.   For a close game, I thought there was a general lack of excitement.  There didn't seem to be much flow to the game(despite the 60 second shot clock) and there were numerous whistles slowing down the play.  These are obviously some of the best players out there, but the skill level didn't appear much different from something in college, felt more like an exhibition game to me.  The highlight of the game for me was watching Lyle Thompson (plays for the Bayhawks).   Lyle had 3 goals and 4 helpers on the night including the assist on the game tying goal with about 50 seconds to go.
