Hopkins doesn't have the defense or goaltending to make a difference in the tournament z and that was obvious in this game.

UNC's only chance to make the NCAA tournament is by winning the ACC tourney. So they get a hug upset win against Syracuse in the first round, and now they have to beat ND to stay alive and earn their only shot at an NCAA tourney bid.
Syracuse is a top 3 team in the country, ND top 10. Game on ESPNU tomorrow at noon.

Bubble teams obviously want ND to win, because if UNC wins that's one less at large bid available.

Terps win the Big Ten men's lacrosse title. Beat Ohio State at Ohio State 10-9. Only 2 goal lead was OSU at 3-1. Great game.

That should lock Maryland in as the No. 1 seed for the second consecutive year. Would bank on Syracuse as the No. 2.

First day of the tournament has provided a classic Towson chokehold of Penn State and two blowouts. Fun nightcap: Carolina-Albany.

Terps looked pretty good yesterday up until they shut it down with about 7-8 minutes to play, fortunately it didn't come back to burn them. Sets them up for a rematch against Albany who they already beat in a one goal game earlier this year. Albany damn near blew their game against UNC but held on for a solid win over the defending champs. Albany will be a tough out but Maryland has to be considered the favorite.
Towson will have their hands full with the Orange but they are battle tested and have been in the dance before so who knows what could happen there.
I had been reading how much better Loyola has been playing lately, but I didn't see it yesterday. Watched almost the entire game yesterday and wasn't impressed at all. Part of that is due to the solid play of the OSU goal keeper but the Greyhounds shot selection and location wasn't great. They had a hard enough time not committing unforced turnovers working the ball around in the offensive set up. Disappointing performance.

Syracuse is a tough opponent, but they've been living dangerously all year. The Orange have been involved in 11 1 goal games this year having gone 9-2 in those games. Towson has postseason and experience, if they keep it close they might be able to pull this one out.
In D3 news my alma matter Salisbury is in quarterfinal action tonight. SU is playing Cabrini and will be looking to avenge their lone loss from the regular season. Go Gulls!
