I would think he can practice, and play preseason, right up to the days before Week 1. Though it would make no sense for them to give him many reps since they have to prepare at least two other QBs for 2/3 of the season.

His suspension begins August 30th.

I agree with you.

It makes little sense to give him much in the way of meaningful practice or game reps at this point.

Wonder if the Browns will have a Bill Cosby appearance to warm up the crowd before Watson's first game. Get that swimmer from Stanford to do the honorary coin toss and then bang the coin because it can't say no. R Kelly can do the halftime show. Darren Sharper didn't play for them, but does that mean the Browns can't retire his number?

Former Brown Kellen Winslow Jr. will give a video message from the pen to wish Watson and the Browns luck!

Curious to see if 11 games is enough for them to pursue Garoppolo or if they're willing to ride it out with Brissett.

I think they should ride with Brissett.   They have a decent enough team other than the QB.  Their defense is above average.  They have a really good 1-2 punch with Chubb and Hunt.  WR is a little weak, only Amari Cooper is probably above average.  Of their first 11 games, they are probably outmatched against LA (Chargers), Baltimore, Cincinnati, Buffalo, and Tampa Bay.  The other 6 games are all games they should at least have a chance in.  They are Carolina, NY Jets, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, New England, and Miami.  If they can pull of an upset against 1 of the first 5, and manage to go 4 out of 6 in the 2nd set they could get to Watson with a 5-6 record.  Problem is in the AFC it probably going to take 11-12 wins to get a wild card as loaded as it is.

Thing is, even when they get Watson back, what do they have?  Personally, I always thought he's been way over-rated.  He's made some sportscenter dynamic plays, but I don't think he's ever been all that clutch of a QB.  He had some decent Houston teams (terrible coach though) and never got them past more than 1 win in the playoffs.  I've never been that sold on him.  And now he hasn't played in two years.  He looked horrible the other night.

If they stick with Brissett teams will load the box to stop the run. Outside of Cooper they don't have another WR that teams would plan for. Brissett does get nicked up as he did last season. He was hobbling around with a bad hamstring when the Ravens played them. Worst thing for us was knocking him out of the game and then facing Tua, who they hadn't practiced to play.

Reading some of the comments on PFT on the Watson stories, always has a few delusional fans saying, well if we suck this year at least we get a top 5 pick. Completely forgetting Houston has their next 3 #1's .

It will be peak Browns if Houston gets a franchise QB in the top 10 next year via the trade.

Their next two #1s.  The first of the three #1s was already given up this year.  Houston traded it back from #13 to #15 and took OT Kenyon Green.

#Browns confirm that Myles Garrett was involved in a one-car accident this afternoon after leaving the practice facility. Garrett suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Someone on twitter posted he broke his wrist. His agent is saying nothing is wrong.

In the latest addition of "Da Browns" - they waived kicker Cade York after drafting him in the 4th round just last year. There are a litany of useable NFL players that were taken in the 4th round in 2022.

Sounds like a fantasy draft I had last weekend where someone took Tucker in the 6th round in a 10 man league.

Chubb done for the year? That'll really put a damper on their season losing Conklin and potentially Chubb in back to back weeks.
