I think you're a bit harsh on MM, Mike. The offense is improved, and it's not just health. He's thrown in some nice wrinkles. Definitely want a replacement and think there's zero chance that isn't the case, but I don't think he's been awful. In some ways, he's been quite decent.

I think he stays. So next year is 6 OCs  in 6 years??? I dont think it happens.  I think he along with most of the staff stays and then after another mediocre '17 its probably a complete house cleaning.

Can we cut Hester please? He brings nothing to the  table and every decision he makes ends up being the wrong one.

Yea, Hester really hurt the team last night.

They lost Asa but you have Camp.

Be nice to get him on the field now. You need that other weapon.

I could see this team beating Philly and Pittsburgh, then losing to Cinci.
People here are going to overlook Philly but that won't be a cakewalk. They don't have playmakers but they are tough minded. Flacco better not be bad

Philly is 1-6 on the road. Their lone win away from The Linc was over the hapless Bears in September when no one had real film on Carson Wentz.

He hasn't been decent enough to keep around next year, IMO.

Trestman was cut because he didn't run the ball enough. That hasn't changed. So what is the deal really? Scapegoat for Harbaugh's flaws?

Last week early in the game they exploited some things and attacked that all day. It's the first time all year they did that.

MM has a knack for a solid game plan, evident by solid scripted opening drives. Then the rest of the game, a lot of questionable decisions. The other thing I'll give him credit for is using the middle of the field more with his speed guys which doesn't invite the sideline in as a defender. More of that please.

But otherwise, there is no excuse for some things I see though. How many more pitch plays are we going to see? Flacco in the shotgun 95% of the time? No huddle that takes 35 seconds to snap? Blown timeouts by not getting play calls in in crucial spots? Can't hustle in a two minute drill? Joe to blame to, but MM making subs after 30 seconds wasted?

That went about how I expected. The magic number for me was 24. If we could've held them to 24 points, I felt like we had a shot.

Regardless of how it happened to that point, we were in position to hold them at 23; then of course the big play happened that pretty much sealed the deal.

To channel my inner Denny Green, we are who I thought we were. A good QB that gets rid of the ball quickly gives us fits because it neutralizes a strong front 4. Then, when we don't get decent pressure, I feel like our guys get undisciplined in zone coverage. Too often, the opponents find guys wide open in our zone coverage. The flipside was New England's 7 and 8 man zone coverage, which was virtually impenetrable all night. It's easy to criticize Flacco for taking check downs but how many times did they show the behind the QB camera angle and there was literally nowhere to go with the football?

If we're going to continue to lean pass heavy, MM is going to have to get more creative with route combos and concepts. Or, we're going to have to get the running game cranked up to hold those LBs closer to the LOS to create both space and play action opportunities.

They obviously need to reestablish the run game. It works when they need it to. Run out of the I formation more often. No more of this Flacco 50 pass shit. It doesn't work unless it's against bad defenses and it more than likely won't work on the road and in the postseason.

Were there any questions for Harbaugh about Hester directly?

That's the most infuriating thing to me about this entire season.  I can forgive struggling to find an offensive identity, I can forgive the aggressive decision-making, and I can forgive poor play as long as it comes with good effort.  But why in the ever-loving fuck is Devin Hester still out there watching punts bounce and roll back inside the 5?

Has another team's punter had a single punt all year that backspun towards the kicking team?  Why does he let half or more of the punts hit the ground?  If we're gonna do that, fuck the returner and put the 11th man on the line to try and block the punt.

He's become the worst player we've ever had start for us for an entire season, IMO.  He's worse than Gino Gradkowski.  Only reason it's not more painful is because it's a relatively small role.

It's like he's afraid to fuck up and/or get hit.  I don't even care if he returns anymore of them but at least fair catch the damn ball so they don't get the extra yardage from the bounce  and roll

To me Hester should have been gone the week after Campy was signed.  Hester probably cost us about 5o yards in field position not to mention the 2 points.  He will not step up in traffic and catch the damn ball.  I am done with #14...but I don't think the team is.  Legends get old.

I am still pissed about the first half last night.  The Pats out game planned us, and out prepared us.  They did some simple little wrinkles on offense that took us out of the fight.

On defense, their front 7 had us totally confused.  Way to long waiting for the play to get in.  it is hard to get in the no huddle when the play takes 15 seconds to get in.  Joe needed to to a better job getting the right plays at the line of scrimmage.    He did in the second half but it was too little to late.

The media in this city? Ask something tough to answer? Pffft. Someone texted in the fan this morning on my way to work asking why no one asked about the lack of urgency down two scores late in the 4th.

Mike Prestons response was basically, they get tired of asking the same questions and getting no real response. So they keep it to, "how's Jimmy Smith's injury", and that's about it. The Devin Hester question was probably asked one time back in like week 3 and never addressed again.

Bullshit response from Preston. Lazy journalism. If it were true no HC would ever be asked a question again....especially Bill Boringchick.

Preston has long since outlived his usefulness in covering this team.  Everything the man writes, is aimed at starting crap and in fitting his own personal agenda's.  I am sure he thinks, he is selling papers, but  his cheap  shot stuff is over board.

From jeff Z:

Dean Pees admitted he wanted to win Monday's game more than any since Super Bowl. Said he prepared harder than he ever has.

Wow...this isn't good to read. Lol

That's on them for needing to get up more or less depending on the opponent. That's a lack of professionalism. Very common in professional sports though, and it's understandable.

I didn't like reading about how hard he prepared and then the defense looked like shit even with Smith out.
