Belichick to UNC is a done deal.

I know college football is becoming more and more professionalized, but I still can't think of a worse match than BB and the college game. Feels like the most doomed hire since Arizona State brought on Herm Edwards, and we all know how that ended.

Meanwhile, Rich Rodriguez and West Virginia are getting back together. As UNC can attest, these coaching reunions pretty much never work out as well as they did the first time, and I don't see this being a first.

Herm is the first person I thought of when this news started materializing. I thought that experiment was so obviously doomed to fail, but so many folks insisted it would work out great. Turns out, running a college program like a professional team is ridiculous. Who knew?

Belichick's recruiting pitch to players: "I don't feel like doing this and we don't want you that much but if you do my girlfriend will introduce you to a couple of her friends alright?"

Didnt see that it was a done deal. Thnk he will be back in the NFL soon enough. I think he will have success there. Guy can coach and he wll bring in a good staff. Whats realistic. 8-9 wins seasons probably.

He's 72 years old. How much longer does he want to coach? Even if he's only at UNC a couple of years, I can't see many NFL teams lining up to sign a mid to late 70s HC.

The older you get the more expensive it is to maintain a 24 year old GF. He might have to coach right up until he croaks.

Dan Mullen is reportedly in talks with UNLV about their head coaching vacancy. Since UNLV doesn't get big recruits anyway, he'd probably be a good fit there.

Two notable FCS hires today: Norfolk State hired Michael Vick, and Sacramento State hired UNLV OC Brennan Marion. Crazy to me that Marion didn’t wind up at an FBS school, but he ought to be there soon enough.

Sac State was supposedly in on Vick too, but he elected to stay closer to home.

Joining what seems to be a trend of going from NFL star to HBCU head coach to FBS head coach, Eddie George was named the new HC at Bowling Green. George had been at Tennessee State for 4 seasons, and last season led them to their first conference championship since 1999. He replaces Scot Loeffler, who left to become the QB coach for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Stanford has fired HC Troy Taylor. While the decision seems sudden, investigations had revealed several instances of misconduct last year, including bullying two female staff members and threading to have an NCAA compliance staff member removed after he received a warning of rules violations. His 6-18 record in two seasons certainly didn’t help. The decision was made by new football GM Andrew Luck.
