SI is reporting Deion Sanders will in fact accept the Colorado offer he has held for nearly a week now.

SI's Ross Dellinger reports Deion is headed to Boulder tonight to officially accept the Buffs job. CU board of regents meets tomorrow to approve the contract.

It appears Tennessee offensive coordinator Alex Golesh will be hired as head coach at South Florida.

And it's official. Safe to say this is the splashiest, and perhaps most risky coaching hire of the cycle so far. But when you're Colorado, and you've been down as long as you have, the risk is probably worth taking. If nothing else, the college football world will be talking more about Colorado over the next year than the past 5 years combined.

Pete Thamel says Liberty is targeting Coastal Carolina’s Jamey Chadwell as their next head coach. Chadwell won’t decide until after CC plays its Sun Belt Championship Game this weekend.

That would be at best a lateral move for Chadwell, who I figured would get interest for lower level Power 5 jobs. But Liberty does have very deep pockets (Hugh Freeze was set to make over $5m year before he left), so I imagine that’s the draw.

ESPN reports Chadwell will take the Liberty job. As I suspected, it probably came down to money. He'll reportedly get a 7-year contract that averages over $4M/yr.

Seems Coastal Carolina was prepared to lose Jamey Chadwell, as ESPN reports they are already targeting NC State offensive coordinator Tim Beck as the successor.

Bryan Fischer

Deion Sanders: "Where's Shedeur? That's your quarterback."

Guess that all but confirms he's hit the portal.

Here's a spicy one....Louisville's Scott Satterfield is headed up the Ohio River to become the next head coach at Cincinnati. Louisville and Cincinnati are facing each other in a bowl game, rekindling a series that used to be for the Keg of Nails. Making it even spicier is the bowl is the Wasabi Fenway Bowl, plus because of the dimensions of the park, the two teams will have to be on the same sideline.

Wonder if this time around Jeff Brohm decides it's the right time to head home. With the expanded playoff coming, he should have a much shorter mountain to climb with Louisville in the ACC than Purdue in the Big Ten.

For those wondering, Satterfield has said he won't coach either team in the bowl game. I personally would like to have seen him coaching both teams with a megaphone from the seats on top of the green monster.

Deion will certainly bring flash and dash to Colorado, but he's taking over a program that has won just 89 games over the past 20 seasons. And any recruiting advantages he had at Jackson State are going to be nullified at Colorado. He's going to have to rely heavily on the transfer portal as well as his NIL connections to lure top recruits to Boulder. One or two five-star recruits aren't going to right the ship at an FBS school.

UNLV fired Marcus Arroyo. At 5-7 this season, the Rebels were near the front of the line to get a bowl invite thanks to their high APR score. Would imagine they'll decline now.

UNLV is set to hire Arkansas DC Barry Odom as head coach. Odom was the head coach at Missouri for 5 seasons, going 25-25. UNLV mostly seemed to focus on candidates with prior HC experience.

Chris Vannini

The Purdue job will be a barometer of how the B1G is viewed in the industry. Brohm going to Louisville is unique because it's home. But Fickell to Wisconsin, Rhule's massive salary at Nebraska, Big Ten jobs are going to become very, very coveted in the future as the $ goes up.

I've been wondering about this. How will coaches will view jobs at mid-tier schools in the Big Ten/SEC vs jobs in the ACC/Big 12/Pac 12? Does the revenue of the Big Two make them more appealing, or now that the expanded playoff is official is it the easier path in the other three conferences? I agree that Brohm isn't really a good barometer, since Louisville is home.

In a bit of a surprise, Wisconsin appears to be honing in on Luke Fickell as their next head coach. While a great choice, Jim Leonhard always felt like a shoo-in.

Fickell is apparently hiring UNC's Phil Longo to be his offensive coordinator. Sounds like the era of ground-and-pound offense at Wisconsin may be over.

Troy Taylor looks set to be named the head coach at Stanford. He’d been the HC at Sacramento State since 2019, and went 12-0 and ranked #2 this season until they were upset by Incarnate Word in the FCS quarterfinals last night.
