This was certainly one of the games that most, if not everyone had as a loss before the season started. To become bowl eligible the Terps were going to need to find a way to win a game many thought they'd lose headed in to the season. So now a bowl is very much within reach, to the point where I'd be pretty disappointed if they didn't make it. Hopefully they can lock it up at Indiana and not have to have it all on the line in the finale against Rutgers, coming off of what would certainly be 4 straight losses (and three of them probably ugly losses).

I think Indiana is going to be really tough.  They hung in there for quite a while with Nebraska.

Despite the losses, they've been a lot better over the last few weeks than they were at the beginning of the year. But they're still turning the ball over a lot, and they're being forced to rely a lot on their passing game. Defense has forced a lot of turnovers, and has been excellent on 3rd down, but has also struggled in the red zone. I have a feeling this is going to be a fun game with a lot of big plays. Close until the end.

Oddly enough, Terps have yet to release a depth chart for this week. Game Notes were published as usual last night, but no depth chart was included.

This would really be a nice win for the Terps.   I'd love to see them pull this one out.

Get this win so that the Rutgers game is meaningless in terms of making a bowl.

Last thing I want is to somehow lose to them and only end the season with 5 wins.  Would be really disappointing.

I pretty much agree, a 6-6 bowl game while in no way glamorous, represents significant progress for the team and is a reward for the players and coaches who have clearly worked hard.  The team is still clearly challenged in the trenches and a t QB, but  the future is clearly brighter and DJ is the kind of leader this program needed.

A win against Indiana would be big.  Combine that with a win against Rutgers and Maryland would have a winning record which is a real step forward for this program.

Terps did end up releasing an updated depth chart for this game. Here are the changes:

  • Teldrick Morgan leapfrogs DeAndre Lane as the starting slot receiver.
  • RaVon Davis is the starting Nickle corner, backed up by Elisha Daniels.
  • D.J. Moore and Teldrick Morgan are co-starters at both returner positions, but it looks like Moore will handle kickoffs and Morgan will handle punts.

Teams were rarely kicking to Likely so maybe moore and Morgan gove them a chance to make a big play on return.

Not knocking Likely at all, but maybe the opportunity, for a big play in the return game grows.
