Personally, I wish they'd lose all this silly "ops" stuff and just wear their excellent uniforms...

BTW, what is "ops" about?   They're going on some commando mission, or what?

It's so bad. They're trying to hard to be "hip" like Oregon it's pathetic.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

The players like'em, which is pretty much the point.

I like the black and white ones...  wasn't a fan of the red.

They are trying to build a program from essentially nothing. In a division with 3 blue bloods, and a program which has had a lot of success the last decade. Have to differentiate yourself someway... and their relationship with UA is right at the top of the best things they have going for them.

Feels like they wore less different combos this year fwiw.

They did these because the players said they liked them? Or they planned to do it ahead of time before the players even saw what they looked like?

(I don't know the answer, but I doubt that "the players like them" is where these things came from...)

They have the multiple uniforms because of the Plank connection, and MD is essentially the flagship of the brand.

The multiple uniforms are a selling point... not to you, but to the players.

Why do they have the multiple looks?  Because the marketing / branding executives at UA have successfully articulated the value to MD.

Oh, I get the marketing stuff... AFAIK, that's what it's about... I bet it doesn't matter much whether the players like them or not...

The main thing that surprises me is that, with UA behind it, they have boring monochrome uniforms... seems like they have a blank canvas for showing creativity... and the best they can do is call monochrome uni's "ops"?   I'd expect UA to be more creative than that...

Uniforms are one of the biggest selling points for recruits to come to Maryland. Let UA do whatever the hell they want with the uniforms, because it's working.

Which uniforms are a selling point that gets them to MD?  The excellent standard ones?  Or the monochrome "ops" ones?

Well, I'd say let UA do whatever they want because they're giving the school a bazillion dollars

IMS: Maryland Football Stars Prefer "More Traditional" Uniforms

Well... not the best comments here.  I wouldn't say these guys speak for the majority, but who knows? The unis are definitely polarizing as the article shows.

Certainly recruiting is on the upswing, and UA (the connections with the company, internships etc) matter, even if some players don't love the uni choices.

There are definitely uniform combos I prefer.

That kinda tells me that uniforms, at least their appearance, don't matter as much to the players as we may think.

I like 'em. Definitely like the idea of throwing it back to the original black and gold. And I really like the helmets, those are the best part of the whole set.

It's better than anything "ops". But I like the other throwback look better.
