Defense impressed me big time today. That Bills offense may not be a world beater, but they've got weapons.

Offense definitely left more to be desired, despite a decent first half.

I'm not disappointed. This win didn't change my feelings one way or the other about this team

Impressed by the defense. Taylor made a lot out of nothing a few times and not every QB can do that.

The one positive about the offense was Flacco had completions to like 10 different receivers. Perriman had a great catch, Pitta got involved...Wallace with that pretty deep ball for a TD... a lot to like going forward. The second half was brutal though. Need to get separation and protect Flacco. The run game was weak too but Ryan wanted to make Flacco beat him.

We should hang 30 on the Browns pretty easily.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

This was pretty much the game I expected. Think I predicted Ravens 16 Bills 10.

Hard to get a run game going against Rex.

Can't wait to rewatch the game, speciffically Ronnie Stanley and Alex Lewis. Stanley only had his name called once, for a false start. For a o-lineman, not having your name called often is a good thing. Also want to see how often Flacco was comfy back there.

Talk about an O-line, the little bit of the Dallas game I saw, Prescott had time to make a sandwich, then find a receiver his blocking was so good.

The Bills have good weapons and speed.  I think they were somewhere in the top 10 in offense last year, so they may be better than many were given credit for.  I have read that we were not tested downfield, and that is true, but just maybe the Ravens defense was responsible for that.  An offense takes what it is given and I don't think we gave a lot.  I was sitting next to a Bills fan at the game, (nice guy) and his comment about midway through the 4th Qtr, was Sammy and Woods can not get past 22 and 24.  He said, damn I did not think your corners were that good.  I just laughed.

Rex was impressed.

“Number one, I think that’s a pretty darn good defense over there,” the Ravens’ former defensive coordinator and 10-year coach said.

“Just looking at yourself sometimes, that isn’t it. I’m probably one of the only coaches that will give credit to the opponent, and that defense played extremely well. They’re well-coached, and they got after us.”

Bills offense last year (in yards) was:

#1 Rushing Attack

#13 overall in Yards

#12 overall in points

#28 in passing

So yes, there was some merit to the passing not really being great. But looking back, I see our run defense a bit more favorably than I had initially imagined.

I think looking at what they did last year is meaningless.

One of their big RB weapons, Karlos Williams, isn't on the team anymore. They also lost Glenn early.

It's not predictive, but it's not meaningless.

Sure you make adjustments for losing Williams, etc. But knowing they were a top half scoring and yards offense last year tells you they weren't absolute scrubs. Sure, future information will tell us more, but for now, speculation based on past information isn't meaningless.

I had not watched Tyrod much since he left here, but he was pretty much what I expected.  He is okay and he can hurt you with his legs, but is not going to strike fear throwing the ball/

The Ravens with the exception of the miss sack by McLellan and 1 or 2 little roll outs did a real good job on Tyrod.  A disciplined defense can control a running QB.  We were very disciplined yesterday.

Williams had 517 yards on less than 100 carries...he averaged over 5 yards per rush and had 7 Tds. He was also a thunder to McCoy's lightning....ie, it was a different style...a change of pace so to speak. I guy to help wear down the Dline.

So yes, what they did as a team last year is pretty meaningless.

What is impressive about what they did do was that Buffalo has a lot of playmakers. They have a good TE, solid to very good WRs, an excellent RB and a QB who can run the ball, as well as throw it with good results.

They let nothing beat them yesterday. Be impressed that the defense held down an offense full of speed and should have held them to 3 points.

But trying to make things look even better based off of last year, when there has been turn over in that running game, just doesn't make any sense to me.

I feel like we're arguing for the sake of arguing, imagine that. I'm not trying to "make things look better", I'm saying people acting like the Bills should just flat out on offense this year, probably were a bit surprised in how good they were last year.

Just trying to use the information and give context to what is in front of us right now to make an educated guess of how the team will move forward based on stats and what I saw. Is it us, is it them? Is it the matchup? How did they look? It only tells you so much. The Bills who returned a lot of players and a system last year that was in the total offense upper half in yards and points and the top rushing offense had a pretty darn bad game. I think that underscores a bit of what the Ravens did in context.

It doesn't just have to be their #1 rushing offense...overall, the Bills last year had zero games with 160 total yards. They only 1 under 280. And none under 200. Either the Bills play from last year is slipping very significantly (we can all watch for that) or that the Ravens are significantly improved on defense. In Week 1, it's worth taking a look at, not using as gospel and considering. By Week 6 not so much, we should have a better idea of who the Bills really are this year by that point.

I'm impressed with all the things you mentioned, and I'm also impressed that we held a team to 160 yards something we didn't do all of last year either (213 was our team low).

Can I offer another suggestion?  And this is backed up by the quotes from the Bills players, but maybe the Ravens schemed up enough different packages in the offseason to stifle them.  The league will watch the tape and adjust.  Or it could be the Ravens defense improved a lot with new/returning personnel.  No turnovers could be a sign that its scheme.

The biggest concern for me was Zuttah.  He was atrocious yesterday.  The 2 rookies will get better as the season goes along, and Yanda won't keep committing penalties, but who knows with Zuttah.  He might just suck now.

Agreed. Plenty to like here. Probably shouldn't have responded and just let it go.

Zuttah is a huge worry.

I wish Urschel could step up and be that guy.
