Welcome Brandon, glad to see a Western Maryland Ravens fan. It seems like many there pull for the team from the dark side.
Welcome again!!

Hello all,
For the past five seasons, I was employed by the Baltimore Orioles. While my official title was listed as a "Player Development Coordinator", I experienced a wide variety of job responsibilities. However, one thing that remained the same was the fact that I watched a lot of baseball and scouted a ton of players with the Baltimore organization. Working in baseball is a lot of fun, but also a lot of time. This means long days, little pay and sometimes frustration. During my time, I learned a lot not only about what to look for with players, but also about baseball development. There is a lot of action that happens behind the scenes that fans don't see - this plays an important role in how the organization defines itself.
Thanks to Chris, I'll be here on BSL giving you an insight into the world of minor league prospects and the Orioles. I'm not from the "old-school" in regards to scouting and believe that there is more to scouting than just watching a player.

Reggie... you've got a great baseball name... it's not like Hayden Penn or Brandon Whatever... instead it's Reggie Fucking Yinger!
Now, at the same time, it's not exactly Cal Ripken either (so stay humble),... but it's definitely on the proper side of normal... so good for you

Hey guys,Ryan Potter here. I'm 24. I just moved to Boca Raton, FL a few months ago. The only actual connection that I have to Maryland is an ex girlfriend that lives in Parkville and goes to Towson.
I started writing about baseball in 2013 on a small site that I started with some friends from college (University of Kentucky. Go Cats!) and wound up doing some work for Beyond the Box Score, The Dynasty Guru, and SB Nation's Padres site Gaslamp Ball. I love baseball in general, but growing up in KY I didn't really have a team of my own. I'm just getting back into writing for public consumption after battling a pretty nasty drinking problem for a few years and am really excited that Chris asked me to contribute here. If you don't agree with something I write, I'm always glad to discuss it. After all, aren't we all just seeking a greater understanding of the game we love?
Respect.
12-21-98 for me.

Really?
I never would have guessed that.

Surprise!!
Not a huge deal, went crazy for about a year and a half, made some bad decisions, got an ultimatum, came to my senses, stopped.
I guess my lack of appearances in the "MMM Drunk" thread didn't leave an impact.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Hey guys, I'm fairly myopic around the Orioles thread and just saw this. I'm a senior citizen having just turned 55 in December. For you younger guys, the senior menu and 15% AARP discount at Denny's is something to look forward to. I'm a retired Naval Officer (Mustang) and primarily worked as an Operations/Plans Officer on Amphibious ships and staffs the last 12 years of my career. I later was self employed as a Mortgage Broker/Banker and in the insurance industry for more than 10 years. Hated it mostly, but the money was good. Essentially retired now but have some fun businesses on the side to keep me busy in addition to a horse, dog and 2 kids still in the nest. Also fortunate to have an entrepreneurial wife who I have been married to for 24 years.
I'm originally from upstate NY and have been an avid Orioles fan since 1970 (I was a Mets fan in 1969). Loved those teams as young kid as I'm sure most do that had the privilege to see them play. I don't think I've missed an Orioles game for years now. Thank God for MLBTV. Greatest thing ever, I appreciate statistical analysis and also the guys with scouting/observational skills. Learned a lot on these boards and hope to learn a lot more here. Best regards to everybody, Shawn

Spend any time at 32nd St? Denver, Juneau, Essex, Bonhomme Richard, Harpers Ferry?
OPS on Fort Mchenry (Sasebo). Little bit of staff embark on Denver (and other ships of course). Extensive operational staff time on Boxer/Peleliu/Tarawa. Administrative staff time with CPR-9 and CPG3. Did 40 months of CRUDES/FFG time early on. My enlisted time was not on ships. I was an engineering technician (EA) in the Seabees.
