It seems almost none of us knew this was a topic.
Almost.

Backpacks are all the rage right now.
A purse by any other name...
Of the many ways to divide people into 2 categories, here's one of them: People who like to lug stuff around with them everywhere vs. those who don't. I don't... but I have some backpacks smooshed up in a closet...

I'm with you. I don't personally see the point in bringing enough stuff to justify a backpack. But if I were more of an outdoors type I guess I could see it.Backpacks are all the rage right now.A purse by any other name... I have a pair of corduroy cargo shorts. It's fashion suicide every time I wear them
Not cargo, but I've got a pair of Op Corduroy shorts from Costco that cost me maybe 15 bucks, their great!

Oh I love my corduroy shorts. I have a second pair that's not cargo, and is thicker material. Super comfortable

Ugh. It's like some of you all don't watch What Not To Wear with Clinton Kelly and Stacey London on the TLC.

Never owned one... but the fact that we have them makes Aussies snicker... because their word fanny is what we call pussy...
For a few years I traveled all over on somebody else's dime... so I'd frequently be in a new city and eager to roam around and see stuff... when I wanted to have stuff with me, I'd just use a jacket with lotsa pockets...

Still catching up around here after being away, but I for one frequently use the big pockets on cargo shorts if I'm out shooting. They're great for carrying spare batteries, a bottle of water, white-balance card, whatever other shit I need that I'd rather not have to lug around in a bag.
In Alaska I even had to carry a can of bear-repellant in them. Actually had several pair of the pants/shorts combo up there, the nylon ones you get at REI (cotton is the enemy when you know you'll be getting wet). Luckily Alaska is the kind of place no one gives a fuck what you're wearing.
