Going back to July 30th, Miley is 4-1 in his last 5 starts spanning 27.2 IP and accumulating 27 k's and 14 BB's with a 2.93 ERA.

Yeah, his IP/S still sucks but he's basically on a tear over his last 6 starts. Great to see.

I posted in the other thread on what we'd like to see different next year but I'll put it here too. While I haven't been a fan of Miley (as I think he is a lot of smoke in mirrors) somehow he does manage to get out of a lot of trouble with minimal damage. Seems like Tillman has gotten to where when he has a tough inning he really implodes.

Miley does some things well. Keeps the ball down with a good GB rate. Decent K rate. Pitches inside well. Despite the walk rate his command is actually pretty darn good. Changeup is lacking but he uses the FB, cutter and slider well on RHBs and handles LHB pretty well. The ridiculous walk rate could have been easily improved with some better focus, especially against the more marginal hitters. Change the eye level and throw more FB's in the upper quadrants and work the outside corners a little more. I suspect he's been doing some of these things of late. Probably not much more than a 4.5 ERA guy overall, but not terrible with better pitch efficiency for a back-end starter if you can maintain a BP at around the 3.00 ERA level.

I watched a bit of it. He was perfect through 5 IP!

Worked both sides of the plate mixing it up w/ a cutter, FB, and CH.

Miley may have been the last ex_Oriole starter that I would pick to throw a no hitter. That said good for him.  He seems like a good guy.  Congrats
