Great news for Capitals fans: The Predators have matched the Flyers offer sheet for Shea Weber, meaning that the Capitals won't have to worry about Weber in the Eastern Conference.

He's a little too fragile for the East anyway, he'll be glad in the long run. All the physical play wouldn't treat him well.

He'd still be a monster in the East. Very glad that he's not in the Eastern Conference. And wow have the Flyers had a horrible offseason.

Hockey is weird, you never know how a guy is going to do team to team, and PHI has never really relied on offensive D-men, I don't think he'd do as well as you think in that style.

I also think they trade him within a year, because he does NOT want to be in Nash. they just didn't want to let him go for picks.

Weber is more than an offensive D-man. He's basically the second coming of Pronger minus the penalties. I could see them trading him MAYBE, but I don't think Nashville is rebuilding like everyone else seems to think. All they did was lose Suter. They still have Weber and a solid core of guys. And apparently Weber wants a No Trade Clause...

WOW, really overrating him I think. Mike Green isn't a bad comp. Look at the injuries, he's fragile.

He wants the NTC so he can control where he goes.

How are Green and Weber comparable? Totally different players. For one thing, Weber is a lot more physical than Green and far better on defense. What injuries? Weber has played at least 75 games in all but two of his 7 seasons, and more than 50 in all but one. The one that he didn't play 50 games in was his rookie year when he was called up late in the year. Weber is a consistent 40-50 point a year guy who plays elite defense. Green has never played anything resembling elite defense.

Nashville won't be trading Weber if his comments are true. He said if Nashville matches, he'll continue to play for them for as long as they want him to. And they should keep him.

Weber is far from physical and is a defensive liability at times. He had injury issues for 2 years and fell off everyone's radar until like a year or two ago when he bounced back.

Weber's had one year with injury problems (2007-2008). That was the year he dislocated his kneecap and it nagged him for the rest of the year. Other than that, he's played at least 75 games in every year minus his rookie year (in which he played every game that he could play after being called up). I'll take Weber over any defenseman in the NHL right now. Will be interesting to see how he does without Suter though. Those two had incredible chemistry.
