For carryout, I swear by Gaffney's Backfin in Highlandtown.  Good prices and big, fresh-caught crabs.  And very close to my house.  Only bad thing is they give you all the crabs in paper bags rather than one of those nice cardboard boxes.

Crossroad's Pub in Dayton is a nice spot for dine-in crabs that people probably don't know about, it's not someplace you'd stumble across driving.

The last few times I've gotten crabs at a restaurant, it's been at Captain James' Dockside in Canton/Fells.  They do all-you-can-eat Mon-Thur for $30 I think.  Smallish crabs usually, but at that price, it's tough to complain too much.  They say they limit you to two hours, but I've never had them enforce that.

I'm pretty hooked on steaming my own now, though.  I get the large's from Maryland Crabs Delivered (on facebook), they drive a big truck to various spots around the beltway and you bring a cooler and ice.  Typically about $200 for a bushel or $120 for a half for larges.  Can get females or smaller males for cheaper.

Bill's Terrace Inn in Essex is really good.

That was my go-to place. Saw Boog there one of the first times I went, at the big table in the corner....that pretty much sealed for me.

Just found a great place..Conrads. They have a few restaurants around but they also have a carry out in Parkville. It's cheaper than the restaurant.

Crabs were heavy and excellent. Didn't have any bad ones in the 3 dozen mediums we got.

They were priced fairly as well.

Glad you found it...

My family has mostly gone to Conrad's off Loch Raven on Joppa when it comes to crabs and crab cakes. Closest to our house, good quality, pretty reasonable prices. Not a dine in spot though.

I only knew of the carry out location to be honest. Restaurant must be newer.

The guys who owned the liquor store I used to work at own the one on Belair road with Tony Conrad. I think it's been open two years or so now. Only been once on opening night but I know a lot of people that work/worked there and heard the crabs are good.

I have been to the restaurant once..didn't get crabs and found the food to be pretty underwhelming.

I usually get my crabs carryout so I can drink my own beer, listen to my music etc.  The best place I have found for carryout is Always Best Crabs in Pasadena.  It is a little whole in the wall owned by 2 crabbers but their crabs are always full and heavy.  I have yet to have a single bad crab and their prices are reasonable since they eliminate the middle man.

Dude, I live right down the street from Reter's, and never even thought of going there.

So it's legit?

Steamed a bushel and a half on Saturday.  Got them from Maryland Crabs Delivered (can find them on Facebook, they drive around to various places in the area and you pick up from those stops).  Decent size for the #1s and they were very full and meaty.  Prices were the highest I've seen from them ($225 per bushel for #1) but I picked the wrong day because they dropped the prices down to $175 on Sunday.

I was just about to ask if anyone had used them before, I saw them drop their prices yesterday and was going to jump on it but the wife and oldest who would eat the most of them weren't back from NYC until too late in the day to be worth it. I'm thinking about it for next weekend though, wanted to do it at the pool, but I guess I need to find someone to steam them for me if I'm going to do that.

Steam pot and propane burner.  You're all set up for steaming crabs, boiling crawfish, or even frying a turkey for under $100!  Maybe they'll even be a price break tomorrow on Prime Day?  Probably not, if last year is any indication.  Nothing anybody wanted besides Fire Sticks were on sale.

Wife and I are thinking about crabs this week and want to try somewhere we haven't been. Someone mentioned LP Steamers as legit. Anyone else vouch for that?

A drunk driver crashed into Ed's Chicken and Crabs in Dewey Beach last week, and the whole place was destroyed by fire.

Not quite Owings Mills (more Reisterstown)... but Reter's would get my vote.

Hit up Maryland Crabs Delivered again yesterday.  Prices often drop on Sundays, I got a half bushel of #1s for $85.  As they have been each time I've gotten crabs from them, they were decent sized and very meaty.  Getting late into the season so the shells are really hard, usually all I need is a butter knife and the base of my palm, but needed a mallet to whack the knife through the claws on a few of them.
