Thanks, Glenn. As I have mentioned soccer is just to hard to predict at this level. Even early group stage matches are hard. How many guys out there predicted Iceland to advance? I sure didn't.

But this is also why soccer is such a fascinating sport. I don't think there is another major sport on the planet that has the volume of out of nowhere upsets as soccer. Of course, there are many who dislike soccer for that same reason. They don't like a game that is so low scoring that upsets are much more the norm compared to other sports.  And of course, the good old tried and true complaint about soccer being boring because its so low scoring.

Here's the thing. Soccer is much like baseball in this regards. People who have not played the game at a fairly high level have almost no idea how much is going on that they don't see. I always tell friends who say baseball is boring to read Cal Ripken's The Only Way I Know.  Then they will get an appreciation for what is really happening when all you see on tv or even sitting in the stands is what looks like a bunch of guys standing around.  Well soccer is very similar but to an entire higher level!

Look for more in depth analysis of the USMNT coming soon......if I can get this damn house packed up and moved......lol.....
