Saturn's moon Titan is a land of lakes. Almost 2% of its surface is covered in liquid, but not the kind you’re used to. Scientists had long speculated about the existence of hydrocarbon lakes and seas on Titan, and data from our Cassini spacecraft did not disappoint. Details:

APL keeps proposing a mission to put a lander (really a floater) into Titan's methane sea but it never gets selected by NASA.

Shame because it's a cool idea and a great proposal. And I'd get to work on it if it gets picked up.

What would your role be?

Something on the mission operations team. Probably dealing with flight software (not writing it) or the command and data handling systems. Not designing either of those, but figuring out how we would use them and our ground system to actually conduct operations.

Just spitballing, they don't have ops staffing plans for missions that haven't been selected. But I'd probably be able to get on that, especially if I made a request to be on it, which I would (though I never have before) because I think it's awesome.
