As to Matt's first post, that's probably right. Stone has what...4 assists all year? Nope it's up to 6.

It's the one area that real growth could happen. If he could facilitate the ball out we'd be really dangerous.

That being said, that's way easier (particularly for a freshman) said than done.

They need to take advantage of their size advantages down low.  I have zero issue with them shooting 3s when they get good looks, but the entry passes and the size advantage need to be the top priority on offense 90% of the games we play.

I don't think Stone's lack of assists is because he's an Ekezie-esque black hole where if he catches the ball, he's taking a shot.  He does look to get rid of the ball if it's not there, but he has had trouble passing out quickly as the double team is arriving instead of once it's there.  He'll often wait for the 2nd guy to arrive, then struggles to pass through the pressure and instead of finding someone open has to work to simply avoid a turnover.  So instead of passing out to someone for a clean shot and racking up assists, he basically is only able to save the possession but force us to have to restart the attack.

Agree this is an area he can get better.

Right, I'm not calling it a bad thing.

I wonder if the offense isn't really set up for him to dish either. I'd have to go back and watch more. I'm not saying everyone is standing around when he gets the ball, but on the entrance are we designing secondary actions to create outlets to attack the double teams that they know are coming? Seems like it'd be a basic thing to coach up...

I agree, with your post.  I think it is all a matter of being a freshman.  He was probably the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd option for his HS team.

It may be the reason he comes back another year too.
