And with that, Maryland's day is wrapped up. The Terps secured 29 total recruits. Nine of them are 4-star recruits, and the remainder are 3-stars. 247Sports currently has them ranked as the #18 class in the country, and #4 in the Big Ten behind Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State. All in all, it was an extremely successful day for DJ Durkin and his coaching staff, as they secured the best recruiting class in the program's history. It's also important to note that 8 members of this class (including two of the 4-star recruits) have already enrolled in classes and will participate in spring practice.

I have updated my projected three-deep depth chart to reflect this class. It can be found here: http://baltimorespor...17-depth-chart/

Good Stuff Zack.  Thanks

What's this guys deal?

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Hahaha.

I love this guy.  He kinda strikes me as an excitable guy who's just in way over his head in the recruiting game.  In that sense I feel a bit sorry for him.  Hopefully he can get his academics in order and have success at the college level wherever he ends up.  Reading elsewhere it seemed like MD was excited to have him but hadn't even really been in contact with him.

I don't get that Maryland is all that disappointed over losing the "Space Man".  I don't think they ever thought he was coming.  They never released anything.  I think the kid was screwing around with ESPN and the media yesterday.  Good for him, those guys were taking themselves way too serious.

I don't think they were allowed to say anything about him because he never actually signed.  Seems like a talented kid, I'm sure they would have liked to have had him.

It got MD some extra mention on Signing Day, so the publicity alone was probably worth it.

InsideMDSports: OSU Signee Chase Young Wasn't Interested in Maryland's Promises

No huge surprise here. The stay-at-home movement won't work on those kids who are dead set on going to school elsewhere.

It doesn't work on most kids. It's why the whole MD pride thing Edsall and Locksley were trying to sell was never going to be that successful.

It worked on 28 kids this year, and got them the #18 class in the country.

Starts with our own back yard. Get the top kids that are local and build the program.

Durkin and his staff got the players not some hokey hometown pride gimmick. It's all about relationships and success.

I think the hometown angle helped some, but credit the hard worker DJ and the staff put in.  Even reading about the kids that went elsewhere, many said maryland kept coming.  Good for DJ....he seems to have the energy and drive that the last guy did not.

Now if can start to show up on the field, the job will get a little easier.
