I don't have kids, and really don't care about schools. I only pay attention to them if one happens to be across the street from a bar I'm in. I'm over it.

But you still cared enough to respond. OMG!

Let it go.
There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Oh he wasn't talking to you. He was watching Frozen for the 13th time this week and couldn't help but start singing along.

I'm a parent of elementary school kids who doesn't pay much attention to the education side of things. That's because I have a teacher-wife who does and whose opinion I trust immensely. She's seems to think that most of the backlash from common core is from people who don't pay much attention to it and seems to think it's pretty inoffensive, at minimum.
If she's not worried about it, I'm not worried about it.

I'm going to go with examples I have heard. Hell, that aol article says it well.
If you tell me to do 3 x 5 in a different way(which is dumb anyway but whatever) and you do it 5+5+5 and they wanted 3+3+3+3+3 and they mark it wrong, that's bs.
It's absurd to do that.
Now, you can say that students should do what they are told but to make it so rigid is absurd and that's over the top.
This has been going on forever. In Algebra I and II if you do not follow the correct method its wrong. Why you ask? Just because you can tell me Hitler is a bad guy who did bad things and we came to the same conclusion does not tell me you know why you came to that conclusion or the history behind it. You can tell me the towns people in To kill a mocking bird are racist but do you know why? Same type of theory with math. Just because its numbers instead of words does not mean you there is no substance behind it.
