His FIP and ERA were essentially the same but his xFIP was sub 4.

In the 26.1 IP, he only gave up 28 hits.  The thing about that is that his BABIP was 400(!) and his HR/FB% was over 26%, so he definitely was unlucky this year.  Its a SSS but still, his numbers easily could have been better with a little more luck.

Now, none of that matters until he gets his walk rate down but he has seen that improve in the minors over the years, so hopefully that will happen up here as well.

There is some promise here.

The possibility is there but until Scott can consistently throw strikes, he will be nothing but a guy who moves between AAA and the Orioles.

That's the risk in those power guys. You are trading the command for velocity. Batters today know this and until you can prove you can get a good amount of strikes on your own, they aren't going to help you. They are going to wait for one of your misses to trail out over the plate, slap a little contact and watch the ball fly out of the park. Physics are an immovable object.

Well mostly true. We have seen plenty of good hitters who help the pitchers out all the time. A well known ex O's player comes to mind.

Used back to back nights.

Friday, did not have fastball command, but found a way with secondaries.

Saturday, was really fighting himself, but bared down and got an important k.

I was wondering if he was going to get the 9th inning last night with 2 lefties, including Harper coming up, but Sulser easily got the job done

I know this is a conveniently timed comment, and I'd love for Scott to settle in as a MLer, but I really wish we would have let someone else dream on his potential and gotten what we could back. Coupled with last year's production and his numbers at the deadline, could have gotten something. Same with Paul Fry. Ultimate arm chair GM comments but it was painful to watch Scott throw 25 straight sliders because he had no feel for his fastball.

Wins don't really matter much right now, but hurts to see us in a competitive game and just piss it away with a walk, hit bats man, and a #9 hitter sitting slider.

24 walks in 78 innings. I see the statline and still don't believe it.

3 walks and 33 strikeouts in his last 27.1 IP.

He’s in his walk year. Wonder if he’s available and what it would take. He was one of the best relievers in the game this year.

He was excellent last year.  The talent was always there.  He found control and was a top 10 reliever last year,

Wow, I had no idea.

A rare whiff by Elias and company regarding player development and decision making.
