The real Islanders fans hated this from jump street. And as all as Nassau was, the hockey atmosphere was incredible.

I don't see them going back or getting a new arena though. Not sure what the solution is.
Yeah it was a pretty bad idea from the jump, but they wanted to claim that revenue to help offset paying for the new building. Don't know how the numbers are going to work, let alone where they are going to play, Nassau was a hot mess, and they aren't going to get a new stadium just for hockey. Tempted to say prime candidate for relocation if Brooklyn isn't going to work.
Already have a team in NJ and another in NY. I could see them move to Hartford, and in a couple years when they expand again, you see a push for NY to get an expansion. Vegas and Seattle have been the hot bets for expansion, along with Hartford, and maybe reviving one of the Canadian teams...although I question that working because the dollar exchange values have always been a problem. Quebec deserves another shot. Toronto could easily support two teams. The issue is that players can make so much more in the US cities than CAN because it's a 25% discount right now just to play in CAN. Hence why Stamkos won't sign there.

Will Duncan Keith go with the concussion excuse too?

Not only will this be the 22nd straight season a Canadian-based team will not be crowned Stanley Cup champion, but for the first time in 46 years a Canadian team won't even be in the playoffs.

Keith gets 6 games. 5 meaningless regular season games as Chi is already assured of a playoff spot and just one playoff game. Nice job of sending a message to a repeat offender.

Nashville vs. Anaheim
San Jose vs. Los Angeles
The Caps' series with the Flyers starts on Thursday. Game times as follows:

Game 2: 4.16 7 PM CNBC
Game 3: 4/18 7 PM NBCSN
Game 4: 4/20 7 PM NBCSN
Game 5: 4/22 TBD*
Game 6: 4/24 TBD*
Game 7: 4/27 TBD*
*if necessary
I have admittedly not watched a ton of hockey this year (but, as always, I will get really into it during the playoffs) but I gotta believe that if the Good Guy can't bring the Cup home this year, they may never do it. That said, the Cup playoffs are largely a crap shoot. Don't know a ton about the Flyers but it appears they barely got in thanks to Boston losing.
FWIW, the Caps went 2-2 vs Philly this year, with both their losses coming in OT.

Flyers have been much better since Gostisbehere came up (something like 35-16-7). He's the key to their whole team.
Steve Mason has been a top 3 goalie all year at even strength. Early on the Flyers PK was brutal. Its been better since about December. Neuvirth, if you can believe it, has been unbelievable. He's coming off a knee injury but did play today.
The Flyers were on fire up until a few weeks ago. Pittsburgh threw them a few brutal losses. Otherwise they've been a pretty good team since a bad start. To say they barely got in due to the Bruins losing isn't accurate. They were 8 points back at the beginning of March behind both Montreal and Ottawa just to get to the 9 spot. They made up some serious ground.
Honestly I'd take the Caps in 6 but do not be surprised if this series goes the other way. Clear rebuilding year in Philly but they've got a solid and mostly healthy team, so no pressure on them at all. Del Zotto is the only guy missing. Simmonds was a beast down the stretch.

Flyers have been playing better, but the Caps aren't losing this series. Top to bottom this is a better team. Look for the Flyers to get chippy and try and get under the Caps skin. Caps play like they're capable of and this should be over in 5.

I'll take that bet. Ed Snyder died today which sucks. He's a legend.Flyers have been playing better, but the Caps aren't losing this series. Top to bottom this is a better team. It seems like this might finally be the year. I'm hopeful, and hopeful I'll get to watch a lot of it.

Game 1 tonight! Of course I've got a PTA meeting, looks like I'll DVR and catch up. Look for the Flyers to come out hitting, let em take their best shot and then show em why you won the Presidents trophy.

Why did Simmonds and Wilson just go to the locker room?
They both got 7 minute penalties, which will run through the end of the game. I don't think they got ejected...

So they each got one major and one minor?
