Well, it sounds like either they found water or else they came up with an alternative explanation for what the GT guy thought was water...

Looks like they've found flowing water.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Huge if true.

Yeah pretty big.

There may be pools of salty water beneath the surface where A) life could potentially exist, and B) could be used for human  settlements on the planet.

Well, GT's football team let Notre Dame beat them *twice* this season, but their astro guys are still on the ball....

The question is, if enough of it gets released could it lead to an atmosphere? There's supposed to be a huge chunk of it under the surface, but temps vary so widely that t stays frozen.

Elon Musk says we need to build an atmosphere there...  but how?

"There's a fast way and a slow way," according to Musk. "The fast way is to drop thermonuclear bombs on the poles." The "slow way" is to pump greenhouse gases into Mars' atmosphere by potentially transporting said gases from the Earth to the red planet. To put differently, Musk wants to recreate the processes of global warming on Mars.

Does that mission to Mars thing really have a chance of happening. The one where normal people volunteer to go and never come back?

The Mars trip is a non-government project called Mars One...

AFAIK the only way this water finding has anything to do with it is if it gets way more very influential people juiced about having somebody go there... in which case I'd imagine they'd probably take it away from the original Mars One folks...

I knew it wasn't government related. Still, what's the chances it actually happens assuming NASA doesn't get serious about a mission there.
