It takes time and reflection to see which movies are truly classics with these places. Looks like a 15 year minimum for them. It's like anything recent losses respect if you place it on a list like this.

My list is much different. There Will Be Blood should at least be on the list if not at the top. Whenever I catch up on the classics I find myself respecting them more than loving them in most cases.

There will be blood is a fantastic film, but it's not the best american movie ever made. In fact, I have it behind almost famous in my best of the 2000s list.

Citizen Kane is one of the most boring movies I've ever watched.  Don't understand why every film critic beats off to it.

Because it was a huge game-changer in the history of film... character study, psychological depth, essence of a timeless parable, etc... it wasn't just the same old thing, it came out of left field and was ground-breaking...

If somebody doesn't know anything about the history of popular music, they can't fully grok the immense importance of Elvis, the Beatles, and Dylan... same basic thing...

I don't know much about the history of film, maybe we have somebody around here who can give a better answer...

And this movie didn't make their list either? For shame, AFI. For shame.

Markus is going to keep naming bad early 90s movies until someone tells him how funny it is.

Haven't looked at it yet but I'm guessing Citizen Kane over Godfather, which is an error every time it happens. Yup. I haven't seen CK in probably 18 years but I did like it but I feel it's overrated. The Godfather is the perfect marriage of classic and modern American cinema.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?
