Rex.

Funny story. Ryan went to the same school I did, and at school I hosted a weekly radio show with a couple guys. So when he was touring the school as a potential applicant, we had him in the studio and he did an hour with us.

Couple years later he got the job, and I saw him at Pickles late one night after a game. He was by himself and I walked up and just wanted to congratulate him, ask him about school. Seeing as how we already met I had in.

Totally got the cold shoulder. A simple "thanks" and walked away like I was a nuisance. Really dude?

I'm not a fan of him personally...  still annoyed by comments he made jumping into a twitter back-and-forth Jenn Royle and I were having.

I'm also not a fan of him behind the mic.  Was at the game Sunday, and during the rain delay they replayed 2,131.  I just preferred that classic Rex style.

I remember being a kid and regularly calling into Rex's show on WBAL.  Great guy.

I'm definitely biased here.

Will say that the crowd obviously likes things like "J. J. Hardy."    And if he was allowed to be more pronounced all the time, I think most younger people would prefer that.

The guy who does it now may be the worst in the business.  Which is saying something.

Wow.  And you have been to all the stadiums.  Says something.

Well he blocked me on Twitter because I called him out on criticizing the field conditions for the Towson FCS championship game when I pointed out that it was a neutral field and neither team was at a natural disadvantage. Before that when I criticized the O's hierarchy for drafting/player development, he asked me sarcastically if I was a scout.

I don't mind him so much as an announcer but these Twitter experiences were enough to sour me on him.

Bottomline, Rex Barney was better both on-and-off the job.

Yup.  The PA people are interesting -- for the most part you don't want to notice them -- they should just be another part of the atmosphere.  When you can remark about how about the person is, that's bad.
