I drove to Memphis, TN (then all around the Mississippi Delta), and to Scotttown, OH (Tri-State area) the last couple months. Both were great. Our country is truly gorgeous. Driving through Tennessee in mid-fall was glorious.

That drive is brutal. Getting past the DC/Richmond corridor takes about a third of the time. Then after that it's a long 8 hours to the Florida border. Then another 4 hours to anywhere that is not Jacksonville.

 

I've been along for that drive at least 5-6 times, 3 of them were to the Keys. My parents were cheap. LOL

 

I've driven from MD to FL probably 25x over the past 20 or so years. The trick is to leave on a Sunday early AM to get through/around DC. So long as you can do a 9 hour drive, stopover in Pooler, GA. They have most every decent hotel and a couple higher graded hotels too. That frees you up to get down into FL, jump on 10 to 301 to I-75 on down. Second day's drive is 6 hours, tops.

The NBA, NHL, WNBA, NCAA should cease to host any sporting events in the state of Minnesota until ICE and the Border Patrol clear out of the state.

Shameful that anyone can still defend this. I urge anyone who can to zoom out. How is any of this okay? Life in America is deteriorating by the day and if you don’t think it can come to your city or town, you’re woefully naive.

It's pretty crazy that the people who consistently warned about things like this happening about 18 months ago were dismissed as alarmist, but were absolutely dead-on. This isn't even the worst-case scenario (even though I think we're hurtling toward it). 

 

It's also pretty crazy, going back, say, 17-18 years...that the people who consistently warned about things like that happening were ALSO absolutely dead-on, but they're fine with it because it's "their" guys doing it. The same people that were scared of people coming to steal their guns are fine with this treatment of responsible gun owners.

George Zimmerman and Kyle Rittenhouse were heroes to the right. That's all that needs to be said. The hypocrisy knows no bounds.

I think this is why it's incredibly important to know when arguments are made in bad faith, and to dismiss them outright.

 

When, for a much lighter example, someone says "LeBron James has a losing record in the NBA finals, thus he sucks"...it's clear that's a bad-faith conclusion, and that person gets laughed out of the discussion. Why can't that be done when actual human lives are at stake?

Just blocked a good friend who's RW and lecturing me about how these two folks in Minneapolis deserved to die. I can engage with people on the other side but not when they outright lie and become blatant hypocrites, which unfortunately describes a large majority of folks on the right. I don't have time or energy to engage with liars and bad faith arguments. There is video of both incidents and people are telling you to not believe your own eyes and instead agree with a manufactured alternative narrative where both these folks were deserving of death.

I'm still waiting for their to be a 2nd side that forges a federal police force reporting directly to the President to suppress 1st and 2nd amendment rights, and terrorize brown people, regardless of their citizen status. Once we end the fascism, we can get back to the both sides suck exercise.
