Everybody likes top 10 lists so how about one of your top ten Rolling Stones songs.  I'm still working on my list (how do you only pick 10!?) but I feel pretty confident in putting Sympathy for the Devil at #1.

1.) Miss You

2.) Tumbling Dice

3.) Start Me Up

4.) Gimme Shelter

5.) Brown Sugar

6.) Sympathy For the Devil

7.) (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction

8.) It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)

9.) Jumping Jack Flash

10.) Midnight Rambler

That's super tough after #8 for me... probably 8 or so songs fighting for those 2 spots of 9 and 10. Blows my mind how good they still are live. I'm 30 and I'm pretty sure I'd die if I tried to be as active as Mick Jagger over a 90 minute set.

In no particular order...

Can't You Hear Me Knocking

Beast of Burden

Gimme Shelter

Under My Thumb

Sympathy for the Devil

Get Off of My Cloud

It's Only Rock and Roll

Brown Sugar

Shattered

You Can't Always Get What You Want

I've got my top 5 at the top (which constantly change order, basically the most recent one I've heard is my favorite) and after that it's pretty hard to distinguish between #6 and about #20 or so.

You don't get down with any of that disco goodness, eh Mack? Good list though.

Good idea. I've always been Stones > Beatles.

Mackus pretty much stole my list...but I do like me some "Angie" and "Street Fighting Man", I just don't know what I would replace those with.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Hmmm. Miss you at 1? That's the 1988 Orioles of selections.

I'll have my list later but I'm fairly sure "Angie" will be #1. Maybe my favorite sad song ever.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

I realize it isn't their best song. It's my favorite though. Love that groovy goodness. Also, I was 3 in 1988 so I'm sure it sucked, but at that age, I'm sure I very much enjoyed that season. I didn't have to worry about school or work... those were the days.

Have you guys ever heard Merry Clayton's vocal track isolated from Gimme Shelter?  Prepare for goosebumps.

While I think The Beatles were the "better" band, count me among those who always liked the Stones better. Too many great songs to do just a Top 10, but here's a couple of my favorites I haven't seen mentioned yet.

And something from a more recent era.

My preliminary list has about 20 songs in the running for top 10, let's see if I can whittle it down.

Angie is a beautiful song. Just not the type of song I want to listen to all the time. Pedro will love this... but I often times have an informal "best songs" and "favorite songs" list for my favorite bands... and they are usually pretty different.

If you don't have Sympathy for the Devil in your top 3 then you need your head examined.
