There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Hey, if anyone is in Atlanta and wants to cause some trouble in a bar, tonight is the night to do so, because CONCACAF apparently hired all the bouncers to protect the officials as they walked off of the field. Almost as if they expected they would be needed.

So Mexico won with two penalty kicks in the last 10 mins of the game?
Basically, yes.

Mexico Advance To Gold Cup Final After Panama Are CONCACAF'd
I turned it on after the half, so I didn't realize that Panama was already playing with 10 after another awful call earlier in the game. And according to the comments, even the Mexican team is acknowledging how terrible the calls were in their favor.

Bad loss.
Some are calling it the worst loss ever by the team, and given the circumstances and situation I would agree. Having said that they still have a chance to go to the Confederations Cup in 2017. They now face a one game playoff in October against either Mexico or Jamaica.

I didn't watch the second game but it sounds like Mexico was gift wrapped another win.
From what I've read and saw that seems to be the case.
Apparently the hand ball call on Guzan that led to the Free Kick and 2nd goal for Jamaica was pretty suspect too. Not that the bad call should have mattered in this game, but still...

It's this kind of stuff that makes it really hard for me to take soccer seriously. It just never, ever appears to be on the "up and up". So much nonsense. The constant appearance of impropriety. Reminds me more of a WWE-type event than a true competition.

This is why soccer pisses me off:

It's like watching Lebron James play basketball.

All you need to know about that Mexico/Panama match was that Mark Geiger was the ref.
You watch MLS on a regular basis and you know just how terrible he is.

And circle October 9th on your Calendar. A one game playoff between the U.S. and Mexico to determine who goes to the 2017 Confederations Cup. The game is being played in the Rose Bowl, so there goes any home field advantage.
