Really awesome.  A) Some of the stuff they do there makes me thinks it's a DRL Racer and if you've never watched that stuff, it's crazy. B) You really get to see the surrounding area, inside the Stadium, batting cages, etc in a short but comprehensive look.

Well done.

Our guy Ryan Flaherty named the Cubs bench coach today.

I was hoping he'd get the Padres job, but he's still only 37, and will be a manager sooner than later.

Big fan of his, as is most of the league it seems. Good on the Padres for letting him interview somewhere else with time left on his current deal.

"The Chicago Cubs have made their long-awaited splash in the wee hours of the morning, signing their best hitter in 2023 in Cody Bellinger to a multi-year contract, according to a report from ESPN's Jeff Passan. The three-year, $80 million deal allows Bellinger to opt out after both the first and second years of the deal, allowing the 28-year-old utilityman to test the free agency market once again if he chooses after both the 2024 and 2025 season. The contract would pay Bellinger $30 million in both 2024 and 2025, while paying a salary of $20 million in 2026 if he were to not opt out of the deal, according to Passan."

Cody could be w/ the Cubs for just 1 or up to 3 years, depends on Cody. 30 mil/year, wow good for him!

Be interesting to see if the two Boras pitchers--Montgomery and Snell--take similar deals in terms of length. Pitchers are slightly different, however, in that they still may want to maximize the guaranteed money while they still can. Then again, there might not be anything else on the table right now.

It's an utter misplay and fail for Boras.  Some will point to "80M !!, Opt outs !!! " ....but he was selling something 2-3 times that big.  If he doesn't back up his best season, he stays in this contract.

ST games have started and he was sitting at home.  You can't even work out because if you get hurt, you get nothing (that's an issue with all of these guys right now).  This contract is a capitulation of Bellinger because Boras was likely encouraging more time to wait.

For anyone paying attention, there's a difference in the approach to Boras clients for the couple years cycling into CBA negotiations and the 3 off years.

Mos def, Cody and Boras betting on Cody to have an AS season.  If he does he could be in line for a better contract next year w/ another team, but if he gets hurt or has down year, then he will ride out the contract w/ the Cubs.
