That would mostly work for me other than the live sports component.

That’s really the one missing component. If there was just a live sports streaming app that had everything in one place it would kill. But instead all these different apps have rights to NFL or NBA or Soccer or whatever.

We need one consolidated place or have each league sell individual streaming rights more cost effective.

With the big money that is broadcast rights it’s going to be a battle.

This might have been asked before, but has there any talk of adding MASN to Hulu+   Looks like it has everything else I need except MASN

I thought MASN was only offering their live stream to any customer that already had the channel from their cable provider.

Maybe they are taking baby steps, and will expand, one could hope.

I would love to ditch the Cable portion and just pay for my land line (I know) and internet access.

If its VOIP, can we still call it a landline? :)

I think there's a package on AT&T TV that includes MASN, but that's the only one I know about.  And that one's like $85/month.

Yup.

As of now, you can stream games, but only have you put in your cable provider info.

So in that regard, they are peeing in the wind.

4k Question(s):

How can I tell if a sporting event (like today's ALDS games on Fs1) are available in 4k?

Does YoutubeTV offer 4k or does that not matter?

How can I tell if my TV is broadcasting the game in 4k?

Thanks

Think it depends on the device your streaming it from. The newer fire stick and Roku’s are all capable I think.

I'm not sure how to technically tell if a live event is in 4k (Netflix and stuff will usually pop up with Dolby in the top right corner), I usually just go by the "oh this looks really good" test.

Apparently Fox is broadcasting the games in 4K for the playoffs.  You'd have to have a provider that also offers 4K.  Just checked and my Fios has the game on one of it's two 4K channels (which are almost always off air)!  Looks glorious on my new 77" OLED.  Now to find enough time to watch a game...

The 4K channels are totally different channels, at least on YouTube TV. For instance, they had NBC and NBC 4K for The BMW Invitational at Caves Valley. And yes, beyond being on a 4K channel, you have to have the hardware. The compatible Roku or Fire, and the compatible HDMI cable.

YouTube TV has a 4K package which I believe is an extra $20 per month. I don't pay for it, but FOX will give you access to 4K games if you watch through their app. No extra plan necessary. So far, they've mostly been broadcasting the MLB Playoffs, Thursday Night Football, and their featured Noon college football games in 4K.

If I watch in 4K through the app do I need to do anything else (ie change tv settings) or will it automatically show up?
