I did not like the pick when they made it. I hate, taking a guy that you know you will need to change.
Maybe other teams can do it, but development has not been an Oriole strength.

Very compact thick build. Think Kirby Pucket. But I was a little surprised how well the ball was jumping off his bat for all the reports and his results so far. Was making real solid, HARD contact with the ball against a good pitcher.
Admittedly, I wasn't trying to pay too much attention to specific players, I was there with my girls' softball teams they got to go out on the field and welcome the players in for the home opener, but I did catch a couple quick impressions of DJ, Mullins and Means.
Might go back for another look in a couple weeks.

Since then, in 42 ABs, he's had 14 hits, 5 doubles, a triple, 2 more homers, and 12 RBIs. OPS up to .835 on the year.
Not saying it's long enough to show that he's getting comfortable, but it's...not a bad thing.

Hopefully the more upright stance can transform him into more of a power guy. The pitch recognition/OBP skills are still there. Could still end up being a good one.

That's the thing. Might be a late bloomer, but if this dude can change his approach and still hit for doubles/power while maintaining his OBP, man...I'm in.
But it's very SSS. But again...not a bad thing!

While legitimate questions and doubt remains; at-least there have been signs of life.

Statistically, he's fascinating. I think it's one of those situations where you have to trust what your scouts are saying.
That being said, he's up to 811 OPS. It's increased every stop of the way. He's got 15 homers so far this year and his eye remains solid with 45 walks. He's got 16 steals in 19 attempts which is intriguing given what had been generally said about his athleticism.
If he can get to AAA next year and go up in OPS again, that's a player worth taking a much closer look at.

Stewart seems almost forgotten. I see Melewski's updates and comments about various guys, but rarely anything on Stewart.
They did an in game thing on him today, and I had almost forgotten him.
