Sources told ESPN.com that the most active proposal discussed by the teams would send Portland Trail Blazers swingman Gerald Wallace to the Magic along with Nets center Brook Lopez as two of the main pieces Orlando would receive in exchange for Howard.

As part of such a trade, which could be expanded to include a fourth team, sources say Orlando would also shed the long-term contracts of Hedo Turkoglu and Chris Duhon -- both absorbed by New Jersey -- while also potentially receiving future draft considerations.

Also, Portland would receive multiple first round picks. I think interesting play from all 3 teams..

-Portland would not necessarily be entering a rebuild, but I suppose more of a retool. I think you're going to see a strong draft class this year, so if they were to have 2 or 3 picks in the first round, could be very advantagous.

-Orlando would be getting Brook Lopez and Gerald Wallace, two all star level players IMO. Also, just as much of a win would be getting rid of the Duhon and (especially) the Turkoglu contracts. The Magic would still be fielding a competitive team in the East.

-New Jersey obviously would obviously become immediate contenders in the East. They wouldn't be incredibly strong outside of Dwight and Deron Williams, but those two are enough on their own to make the team interesting.

It'll be interesting to see if this gets done. One way or another, I think D Howard's days in Orlando are numbered.

Good take here Adam. I like Orlando's potential haul. Winding up with an All-Star caliber Center would be pretty big.

Yeah, I like it as well. There's a lot to like about Brook Lopez. He's only 23, he's played 82 games in each of his first 3 seasons, pretty efficient scorer. It's bizarre that a 7 footer was able to be on the court for 35+ minutes per game and only average 5.9 rebounds, but Kris Humphries did average about 10.5, so I'm sure that affected Brook's numbers a bit.

Another thing that casual fans sometimes miss in situations like this is that Orlando is not exactly in a position of strength. They've got a superstar player that isn't happy and has basically agreed to go to 4 teams. If they don't work out a trade, he walks after the season and they're left out in the cold. If they had Dwight locked up for 4 more years, would it be a bright move to trade him for Brook Lopez and Gerald Wallace? I don't think so. But to be able to get back a player like Lopez that can absolutely be a part of your long term future, as well as Wallace, who IMO is underrated by many around the league, AND get rid of a few cumbersome contracts..it's smooth GM work on Otis Smith's part.

Well so much for that..

http://espn.go.com/n...ers-sources-say

The Orlando Magic abruptly pulled Dwight Howard off the trade market Wednesday in the midst of discussions with other teams, according to sources close to the process.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Magic have decided that none of the various offers they've received, most notably from the New Jersey Nets and Los Angeles Lakers, is worth executing.

A bad decision to leave, will only get worse if Williams is sent to the D-League.

Apparently, the Brooklyn Nets' new logo has been leaked (ignore the blue dots in the picture):

Thoughts?

I kind of wished they added a tertiary color of black or gold. The whole logo just seems very bland.

I think the Nets are screwed. They gave the Jazz too much for Deron Williams and I don't think there's any way he stays there unless they can bring in a big free agent that will make them competitive immediately. If it plays out like that they gave up 2 first round picks (one 3rd overall), Derrick Favors and Devon Harris for a year and a half rental on Williams.

Time to change the thread name to Brooklyn.

Saw this idea for their logo on EBaum, and I have to say, it's significantly better than what they eventually went with.

Deron Williams announced that he is either re-signing with the Nets or going to play in his hometown with the Mavericks. Nets can offer him a 5 year, $100 million extension. Mavs can offer him a 4 year, $75 million contract.

My lord....that is not near being done.

Isn't the first NBA game in early November? I know for sure that this needs to be completed by March for the A10 Basketball Tournament.

No, it HAS to be completed by November for the first NBA game

No way they are crawling back to Newark (or, heaven forbid, the Meadowlands) for a few games while they finish it.
