Why do the women have green socks on?

I think in this WC they've started incorporating a bit of neon-ish green into the outer edges of their numbers so maybe they have the socks to accent the numbers.

I don't consider myself a major traditionalist but I don't like this. Stick to the good ole Red White and Blue!

Yeah, I really don't get it either.  Who knows, maybe marketing showed tween-girls like that color or something?

This is true. Check out any girls sock section. It's quite bright. Neon is definitely in The socks also match the shoes well. If they go to the red and white stripe uniforms I think the socks would look kinda bad.

That's the best the USA has looked this tournament.  If they keep improving you have to like their chances.

Gotta admit I don't get that into the Women's World Cup but this is cool to see.

I really think that the men's game in the USA suffers from our top athletes pursuing ventures in other sports.  I really think that if we, like European and South American countries, sent our top athletes to play soccer and these guys focused totally on soccer as youths, we'd be a world power.  Can you imagine someone like Russell Westbrook or Odell Beckham playing soccer their whole lives and committing to being great at that sport?

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Julie Foudy was on PTI today, and she said that a US loss, especially tonight but even in the final, would be an outright failure. Her reasoning was that the US has (in her words) two million girls playing soccer, while France has 90,000, China has 7,000, and so on. So we're the country with the numbers on our side in this case.

It's interesting to think about that, especially in comparison to the men's game in the US.

That was such a shame. She tried to make the only play she could and just didn't have enough on the ball to tip it over the crossbar.
