No real criteria... don't have to be the 5 best ever... just ones who are especially good, whose voice is special (in a good way)... who you can tell who it is right away...

(doesn't have to be just rock either)

In no particular order

* Lennon

* McCartney

* John Fogerty

* Jack Bruce

* Roy Orbison

* Joe Cocker

* Janis

* Rod Stewart (even though he wasted his talent after the first few years)

* Levon Helm

* Steve Winwood

* Johnny Cash

* Willie Nelson

* Tracy Chapman

* Dylan (because it's very important to some of his songs)

I'd include Robert Plant.  Steve Perry.  Freddie Mercury.  Lennon and McCartney.  For me, Elton John from the 70s.

Duh!  Van Morrison... back when it was turntables, he was one of the few where I could just leave it on repeat...

Certainly not rock oriented...but the entirety of The Beach Boys.

I mean shhhiiieeeettttt: https://youtu.be/uLgZ6GD03-c

If you've got 9 minutes and want to hear a shitton of (awesome) backing vocals just to see how amazing they were vocally: https://youtu.be/X1mgHvH06Ck  Keep in mind that shit was recorded in 1966 and '67 for the (eventually aborted and then re-imaged and put together) SMiLE sessions. It would have rivaled Sgt. Pepper's and changed pop music forever.

Yes to Brad Delp.  How could I forget?  He could've sang the phone book with some guitar chords in the background, and it woulda been great.
