Back closer to the topic at hand...I'm missing the BS Report/Bill Don't Lie and The Lowe Post hasn't had a new episode this week, so any NBA pods you guys would recommend?

Lowe is great as  a guest, but doesn't have the personality to carry his own in my opinion..

Really missing Simmons right now.

sucks

I like Lowe in both roles, but him as Bill's guest was ideal.

Agreed, much better as analyst.

He's not terrible, don't get me wrong, but Simmons' personality is much stronger as the lead guy.

Can't listen to Jalen/Jacoby. Can't "give the people what they want" on their show.

Maybe I'll give it another chance then.

The Hollywood Reporter: HBO's Real-Life Game of Thrones: The Fight to Stay Rich, on Top and Score Bill Simmons

And the network will ramp up from there, with plans for more of the addictive Robert Durst docuseries, a not-yet-announced 1970s porn drama from The Wire's David Simon and, if all goes as planned, a platform for ESPN cast-off Bill Simmons. While HBO executives are staying mum, multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the network is in talks for a major multipart deal with the biggest media personality in sports.

Never mind Simmons....if David Simon does his own Boogie Nights, I'm getting HBO Go. Here's some thoughts from Awful Announcing on Simmons to HBO though.

The documentaries were the first thing I thought of. He was pushing that in his columns for a long time before 30 for 30 came about, so it seems like something he really loves.

John Skipper Says He Fired Bill Simmons From ESPN for "Repeated Lack of Respect"

“Bill would rather spin conspiracy theories and be perceived as a martyr than take responsibility for his own actions," the network exec said.

The war of words between Bill Simmons and his former employer ESPN continues to rage.

Following a cover story interview with The Hollywood Reporter in which Simmons took multiple shots at the network that he spent almost 15 years at, ESPN President John Skipper fired back, making clear he fired the media personality and for exact cause.

“Bill would rather spin conspiracy theories and be perceived as a martyr than take responsibility for his own actions," Skipper said in a statement to the New York Times. "Let me be unequivocal and clear and take responsibility for my actions: I alone made the decision, and it had nothing to do with his comments about the commissioner. I severed our relationship with Bill because of his repeated lack of respect for this company and, more importantly, the people who work here.”

Both sides are probably equally guilty.

ESPN is 100% a shill for the NFL but Simmons is a spiteful prick who can't accept the fact that the Patriots are cheaters and has made defending them his self-destructive cross to bear.

I have a lot of respect for Simmons' vision with Grantland, and now The Ringer... but I fully get Skipper's comments above as well.

OT: Simmons' HBO commercials are the absolute worst.

Agree with this. His work is pretty great, but he does seem like he's been tough to work with in the past.

Though the loyalty shown by a lot of his Grantland people both when he was fired, and with so many coming over to the Ringer does say a lot.

Here's an interview in the Boston Globe with Simmons: http://www.bostonglo...cPtM/story.html

I also don't really buy what Skipper is saying there.

A lot of times personalities don't understand that they are working within a business that don't exist simply for sports knowledge purposes.

Bill Simmons always complained that ESPN never challenged the NFL. Why would they want to challenge the NFL/Roger Goodell? ESPN is a multi billion dollar corporation, and their biggest audience is football fans. Makes no business sense. Of course Bill Simmons doesn't need it to make business sense. He wanted to take advantage of the platform that ESPN created for him, and turned him into a guy with 2 million, while not adhering to what makes them actually make money. Bill Simmons is my favorite analyst but his constant angling at ESPN definitely rubs me the wrong way.
