Pitchers are dropping fast all around the game. A 3 week spring training was not enough.
Hopefully it is just a tired arm for John. This rotation is thin with him, and without him, I am not sure where the innings are going to come from.

What ever happened with Matt Harvey? He could probably replace Means's innings, he'd just give up twice as many runs.

I guess he is in Sarasota, preparing for his call from the Orioles.

Injured list, left elbow strain, unknown how long he will be out.

Dammit
This is probably greatly increases his chances of being on the 2023 team, though.

Sucks for Means, but this...
Now the next question is, if this elbow issue ends up where it sounds like it's headed (TJ), what is a realistic timetable to see him pitching in Baltimore again? Mid 2023?

He'd likely pitch in '23 but he would be limited. '24 is his lets see what he has year and '25 is his first FA year. Really dampens his prospects in an Os uniform. Understandable why you'd be more apt to trade pitching when you're not expecting to contend. Also understandable why you baby your prospects when they are on the farm. Only so many bullets in the gun.

Sucks.
I'd guess a number of teams will line up and try to leverage this outcome.
We talked about this last May. Nobody ever thinks they are going to get hurt. Guaranteed money is guaranteed money.

The other obvious question is if he's done for the season, how does it impact his arbitration hearing?

That's a good take. Kinda hard to show up in Arbitration hearing and argue for something when you can't pitch. Means should just take the 2.7M at this point.
