The Lenny Webster play.
The Orioles were a better team in 1997, so in a lot of ways, those plays sting more than Maier.

IMO, something from the '97 Ind series is the right answer. At least, if you're old enough to remember it. We were the better team in that series. We were the best team in baseball. That doesn't mean we beat Florida, but we would have been the favorites.

They would have gone up (as a four-seed) against a nine-seed (Northern Iowa) and a six-seed (Tennessee), both of whom Michigan State beat to reach the Final Four, before losing to Butler.
We werent winning the National Title. We are talking about a 2nd round game here. We probably would've lost to Northern Iowa. Regardless, we weren't winning 6 straight games.

Yea,the Maier play, as ridiculous as it was, has really been blown out of proportion for years...There are folks who honestly think that literally cost us the series.
Much like Buckner, a lot of folks think that lost the Red sox the series...Sometimes these things take on a life of their own.

The odds were against it, just as they are against every team entering the tournament. But that team had a real shot with the way the bracket opened up, with Vazquez playing his best ball of his career, and freshman Jordan Williams improving every game. They'd already beaten Duke earlier in the year as well. Plus, they had one of the best in-game coaches in the country
Surprised the Ibanez homer didn't get more love in this thread.

That's a great one, "Glenn".
I went with McLouth/Hardy not getting any runs in off of CC in the 8th inning of Game 5 with the Bases loaded, but yeah, if Johnson doesn't give up that homer, we may win the series in 4.

Not a play. But how about the coin flip from the NFL draft that gave the Cowboys the pick over the Ravens. Dallas takes Dez Bryant . The Ravens then trade down and end up with Sergio Kindle.
Or NE moving one spot in front us to take Gronk, when we were going to.

That team was the best Os team of our generation.
Maier sucked but I doubt we beat NY anyway.
