August 3rd seems awfully early to do a draft... my leagues almost always happen after the preseason. Unfortunately this year, one will have to be during the last week of preseason since one of the owners will be on his honeymoon then. Shouldn't be too bad since most first-stringers sit out that last preseason game anyways.Just got my draft board from Commish Kit for my league with my friends. Draft is on August 3rd, so it's almost time to buy my magazines, start my big board, and do some mocks.

It definitely is early. Problem is, it's pretty tough to get us all together with vacations and everyone heading back to college during different dates. It's definitely early, but no one can really complain because everyone in the league is at the same disadvantage.
With that said, I have the 5th pick. Who do you take there?

Anyone down for a BSL league for bragging rights and not money?
I would be down for either. I often lose interest in leagues where money isn't involved, but I think I interact with enough of you on a regular basis that bragging rights could be enough.
Count me in for either.

Yeah I've just seen money leagues get really ugly with internet friends. I keep to only with my face to face friends for that. However bragging rights for an entire year is usually fun on sites like this. I used to do like 6 teams per year, but I'm trying to keep it to 3 or less, and I think I'm already locked into 2.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

I pick 10th in both my leagues. Screw life.
10 or 12 team? Two of the top 11 or 14 players isn't a bad way to start a draft.

It was for me when my league drafted in May and I ended up with MJD as one of the two picks at 10-11. I purposely avoided Forte, figuring he was going to hold out, and what happens? Forte signs the extension and MJD is the likeliest player in the league to hold out.
At least I also got Mathews as the #11 pick.

Run away from any league drafting in May. Too many injuries in training camp for that mess.

It was the initial draft in a deep dynasty league that covered the base 22 players out of 34. From that point on, it's a late-August draft every year. I still would have preferred it have been all 34 drafted in August, but they were concerned it would take too long, so this was the decision they came up with for setting the base rosters.

Gotcha. Im still with you though, regardless of length it should have all been done in august. Too much change in nfl per season. It was the initial draft in a deep dynasty league that covered the base 22 players out of 34. From that point on, it's a late-August draft every year.
