Anyone planning on going?

Tickets are on sale this Friday and, not surprisingly, are outrageous. $23 "service fee"? GTFO.

Was thinking about it.

I'm a fan of his...not a huge fan or anything but I like some of his music and it would probably be a hell of a setting at a Ravens Stadium to see him.

He's someone that I am not a huge fan of, but I know enough of his music to want to be able to say I saw him in person. I won't go for the prices alone -- but I am sure it would be a great show. Saw the Jay-Z/Timberlake concert at M&T a few years ago...good venue for large shows like that.

Yeah I'm going.

Something has to be done about the service charge BS. You save them money by doing it online and they charge you $23 for doing it. What a complete joke. I could almost understand a charge of 3% or thereabouts given they do have to pay to be able to take credit/debit cards. But $23 is insane.

How we still pay "service charges" for tickets bought on the internet and printing them out ourselves -- and sky high prices for cable packages jammed full of channels no one watches is beyond me.

It's 20-fucking-15 for crying out loud.

I'm going to try and go. I'm getting a friend tickets for his birthday, so I'm going to get an extra one while I'm at it.

I'm just worried this is going to be one of those "sold out in 25 seconds" shows, 70k seats and all.

I imagine it will sell out probably within the first few hours that it goes on sale.

And since none of my friends can commit to doing anything a week prior nevermind four months, I'll end up buying on the secondary market.

Lovely.

Saw him a long time ago at the (then) Capital Center.   He put on a great show, and I'll bet he still does.

I do wonder if the style of his music will play well in a huge outdoor setting. He doesn't need some big stage with pyro stuff and graphics, etc...

Before 1982, one of the greats..

After 1982, not so much in my opinion. i can take so much of "Uptown Girl"

That being said, he puts on a great show.

I would imagine most of his shows these days, particularly in the summer, are in huge arenas.  I'm sure the acoustics will be fine which is all that you really need.

He was clearly at his best prior to that year, but he has a handful of good to great songs that have come out since then.  Baby Grand, Big Man on Mulberry Street, Goodnight Saigon, Tell Her About It and Allentown are all terrific.

Ok,that's definitely fair. Can't say everything after '82 or so was awful, but man, some of his more recent stuff is annoying at best, where virtually EVERYTHING prior was a home run.

"Allentown" is fantastic. Good call.

Well, "recent" means "River of Dreams" in, what, 1993?  That's his most recent pop album with new material.

Yea, I'm generally saying anything from "Pressure" forward...There are a few good ones, but it's hard for me to forgive "Uptown Girl" and "We didn't Start the Fire".

Since no one asked, my top 5 Billy songs:

1-Vienna

2-New York State of Mind

3-Honesty

4-She's Got a Way

5-My life
