I think the scene with Gus and the sommelier in the bar was more about his position as a drug kingpin than his sexual preference. While he was tempted to pursue that guy, he knew that doing so might put his criminal career in danger. Further, after being reminded about Max's fate at Elafio's pool, he did not want to put that person on the Salamanca's radar.I’ll rephrase. This is still the best show on TV, There are just parts of this season that I could do without, and want that time spent with Jimmy/Saul/Kim.
The Jimmy/Saul/Kim stuff is the best. Last nights episode was some of their best work. I want more of that, less cartel hunting Gus when there are no stakes there. Spoiler alert, Gus lives. Didn’t need a few episodes ago following Lalo to a truck stop, watch him buy shower time, sleeping in his car…
If Gus having wine and chatting with the sommelier was supposed to be flirting, and remind us of Gus’ sexual preference, it missed the mark (and is completely unnecessary in the grand scheme) cause I didn’t get that at all. Gus opening his shutters to let the daylight in, signals he feels safe, got it. Move on. Kim is the last piece. What’s her deal going forward? That’s what I’m here for. Gus and the sommelier could have been a deleted scene and the episode would have been a tight hour.
Her deal going forward deserved more screen time. Gilligan says they challenge themselves by writing characters into a corner, so they have to write themselves out. Well, cut to full on BB Saul in a blink…it’s too easy.

Interested to see where they go with the last four episodes after the ending this week...it seems like *most* everything has been resolved, but there's a lot of open space after the time jump (wonder how long that was, too).

I love Carol Burnett.
Gene/Saul used his charm on an elderly person once again.

Gene has a bit of an edge to him to Saul doesn’t have.

Anyway, this means he’s hasn’t been in Omaha long. Only maybe a month or so after the events of Breaking Bad. But about 6 years after the events of Better Call Saul, pre-time jump.

Last night's episode may have been the best one hour and twenty minutes of TV that I have ever seen. Give Rhea Seehorn the Emmy. Name it after her.
Not even close Bud. It was good with Kim but once it went back to Gene, it lost momentum.
For some reason, I am just not invested in the Gene storyline.
But Seehorn has been great the entire series. Definitely deserves an Emmy.

I think they did a nice job of tying the Gene/Kim storylines together last night. It was an extremely well written and well acted episode. I'll admit that I am more interested in Kim's situation than Saul's at this point.

The only thing I predicted correctly was that the core of the show was the love story between Jimmy and Kim.
Saul's gone, Jimmy protected Kim, and they have their reconciliation.

Well if we're doing spoilers...
The ending could be viewed one of two ways. At least, my wife and I saw it differently.
Kim lies to meet Jimmy in jail. She backslides from living an honest life (a life of boredom as we've seen). They light up a cigarette like old times. We all wanted to see Kim make it in the end. But I feel like this means her days are now conjugal visits with Jimmy for the rest of her life. That's not what I want for her.
My wife saw it simply as closure. That visit was going to be the only visit.
They don't tell you one way or another. Kind of leave it up to you. I think Kim was turned on by Jimmy's smooth talking and negotiating from life in prison plus 190 years (Or whatever it was) all the way down to 7 years. She's obviously itching to practice law again by her actions in the episode. If there was another season, I think the next step is she gets back in the game and tries to get Jimmy out.
