Interesting. Tarpley looks to be a good lefty arm (Melewski said on Twitter he's going to be ranked #16 in the system by BA).

Meh. Some upside. Another year of team control is nice, but it feels like he just had a hot 3 months to end '14. The previous 3 and a half years were not good.
At least now you push Young to a bench role vs RHP. What we do against LHP is up for debate. Does Alvarez make the team and play RF while Pearce plays LF and Young at DH. I don't see how you can play De Aza or Snider vs LHP consistently.

Maybe he's the next Jose Bautista

Probably, but if he has figured something out then it's another quality guy for cheap. Duquette specialty.

He has had a good walk rate in his career, which is nice.

Wish we hadn't moved Tarpley.
Kiley AND the BP Staff had him #9 in our system.

Is the PTBNL a draft pick from 2014?

BTW Loughs job could be in jeopardy. Thats now 5 guys who are not named Lough who are listed as OFs. De Aza, Jones, Snider, Pearce, and Young. I know Young isnt good out there and Pearce is versatile but still. ALso, Flaherty can play the OF. The O's have to wonder if that last bench spot should go to a RH hitting OF who would be best used patooning with De Aza or Snider.
If Alvarez has a good ST, or they sign someone like Reimold and he looks solid, Lough could be moved in ST.

A top 10 guy in our system doesn't mean that much.
That being said, if you are going to trade a good young arm for Snider, you better have a lot of confidence that Snider has turned the corner and can be a contributing player for you.

If Lough isn't dealt, he is on the team.
But yea, he could get traded.

Tarpley looks like a nice upside LH arm.

Sure, they are not going to DFA Lough but he could be traded. Likely makes the team out of ST, but as things develop over the season wouldnt be surprised if he's the odd man out.

Lough or De Aza and one of the starters should be dealt imo.
Get some youth for the system and perhaps a good young power arm to put in the pen.

Agreed. They better believe Snider can be a reg on the strong side of an OF platoon. That his 2nd half last year wasn't just a fluke.

Probably would have rather signed Rasmus and held onto Tarpley and it'll be interesting to see who the PTBNL is.
They'd better hope that they are getting the 2014 Snider and not the 2011-2013 Snider. He's always shown decent power, though.... and doesn't have a terrible walk rate.
Should at least be an offensive upgrade in RF over Markakis.

Less than a 50/50 proposition. Especially, if he were to be a fulltime RF and hit vs LHP.
