And thanks for sharing such a personal issue. I think a lot of people treat this sort of thing as something embarrassing to be kept quiet and hushed over, which I think can make it tougher on people struggling with getting pregnant or health risks during a pregnancy. Seems to me that if people talked about these sort of things more out in the open, hopefully people wouldn't feel so isolated or hopeless or worried.
Its a really tough subject. My biggest fear is having a child born with some issue that effects him/her for the rest of their lives.
Some of that is selfish...tough on your relationship, financial issues, etc..But the way kids act nowadays anyway, with the bullying, it would be devastating to have to comfort a kid who was born with something they can't control and be picked on everyday. So, there was so much going on through our heads over the past 2 weeks. Very stressful but luckily, it appears everything will be fine.
I will say this though...it drives home the idea of having kids as young as you can. The older the women gets, the riskier it is. DS has nothing to do with family history or anything like that...its really all about age. My wife is only 33 and has already had a kid and it was still risky.
It is enough to say, we won't try for a third. Its possible we would look at adopting a little girl if things work out well for us but we won't try to have another child naturally because we really start to play with fire there.
